Strobel Plunger tool

I have used this tool on several 1911's to restake the plunger and it is truly a time saver. On 90% all I have to do is pull off the slide remove the spring and plungers, slide the tool in side the slide, line it up with the Plunger tube and tighten the bolt. On a few 1911's you mght need to take them down further but on S&W, Colt and Springfield I have been able to restake plunger tubes for Clients right on the range and even they are amazed that they were able to continue having a great day shooting.
The only negative is on some 1911'S in having to takeing the firearm down other than just removing the slide. But the other choice is taking the 1911 all the way down and staking the plunger with a punch plus taking a chance of damaging the old or new plunger with a punch. It is more than worth the money even for one plunger tube. Plus you will find several items on different firarms that require using a punch and for tightening a sight there is no slipping when you punch the sight slot. Chris OKeeffe

EXTREMELY easy to use, as long as you realize that the part that cradles the plunger tube has different sized openings depending on which end of the slot you use. If you don't pay attention to that you may crush your tube. I didn't have any problems. Again, very easy to use.

This tool works great to either re-stake your plunger tube or stake in a new one. I would have given 5 stars, but the instructions are lacking and I can see someone who doesn't really know what they are doing not realize that the groove in the rectangular piece has two different widths and depths which leaves a 50% chance of somebody collapsing their plunger tube by not knowing to select the right groove.

Did not have to remove ejector. Bright light helped to hit the marks. Used a piece of hanger to make sure tube did not crush. Couple of dabs of red locktite and I was back in business. Great tool !

Made in the USA. Well worth the price. Easy to use and worked as designed. Note: the tube support fixture has two different sizes along its length. Be sure to check which end fits better. Proceed slowly, tighten a little and check, tighten a little more and check again.

Worked exactly as ...

Worked exactly as described on my Colt Combat Commander. I did need to remove the ejector to get the tool in the correct position for the rear plunger staking. I vastly improved the way this tool worked for me by obtaining a replacement bolt from my local hardware store that was one inch longer. I cut off the head of the replacement bolt and then cross drilled a hold in the un-threaded shank area and inserted a piece of round stock to make the clamping motion one handed vs. using a socket or wrench.

Worked well for me, except I did not realize the channel had two different sizes. Used the wrong one and crushed my tube just enough to prevent it from being usable. Worked like a charm on second tube.
