I was a little worried ...

I was a little worried when I was contemplating this sight. As a law enforcement officer I wanted reliable, accurate performance. Since I was shelling out my own money, however, I wanted something that wasn't going to break the bank. I've now been using the ADCO Tactical sight on an S&W M&P15 for about six months and about the only thing it lacks in more detailed instructions. If you're thinking about purchasing this sight, but you're worried it might be junk, rest assured it is a good product.

Purchased this optic for my m&p 15-22. After trying to sight it in I soon realized that I was out of elevation adjustment and still 6" high at 25 yards. I wondered if the cantilever mount was off so I put a few pieces of electrical tape under the rear of the base to tip the front of the scope down. Problem solved. I was able to sight it in fine then. To make sure it wasn't my rifle that was the problem I removed the tape and mounted the optic on my AR and the same problem existed. Obviously my mount is not square and I will be sending it back to midway for a refund. The optic itself was fine. The dot was visible on lower settings even against a bright snowy range. By the way, the folks at ADCO were very good to talk to on the phone, they offered to replace it but I would have to pay shipping both ways which I thought wasn't too fair.

The scope worked fine ...

The scope worked fine when it worked. After only a few times at the range (i.e. a few hundred rounds), the red-dot can no longer be adjusted. The windage and elevation adjustments have no effect on the red-dot. In addition, the light-intensity adjustment would not turn the red-dot illumination off (i.e. setting to zero value).I take very good care of my equipment. The scope has a five-year warranty, so I am sending it back. I have to pay shipping and handling both ways.

Excellent RDS. I used it ...

Excellent RDS. I used it during a Tactical Response fighting rifle course. It held a great zero and held up to approximately 1500 rounds in 2 days and 105 degree heat. I thought it was done when it got fully submerged in water for about 20 seconds, but it held up. The only thing is that you'll want to take the screws out of the sight ring and loctite them. After the first day of the course I had lost 2 screws and the remaining 4 were loose.The scope covers snapped closed tight, but were loose on the scope itself. When you went to flip the scope open you'd push the whole cover completely off the scope. I put a couple layers of gaffers tape under them which helped hold them in place, but one did fall off during a rifle course. So be aware of this and plan or modify accordingly!

Sight went dead after ...

Sight went dead after about sixty rounds through it. While it worked it did zero well and it seemed to be right on.

This unit had one major ...

This unit had one major problem, after a 5 round group during zero. The elevation turret completely worked its way out of the scope housing. After the unit was replace it held zero, but had one last flaw. It was not a parallax- free red dot. I would spend the money for an Aimpoint unit instead, even though it is quite more expensive. However, this unit is great for a beginner shooter and/or those on a budget. Overall, this unit is great for what you pay for. The best thing was the great customer service both from MidwayUSA and the actual distributor of the unit.

Packaging and ...

Packaging and documentation are sketchy at best, but the optic itself is nice looking for the price. Unfortunately, it was useless on my flattop AR. First, the included mount simply refused to grip the upper rail securely. Further, and more critically, the adjustment range proved insufficient to establish a zero on my rifle, leaving all my shots high and to the left at the limits of adjustment.

I found this product to be less than I had hoped for. The red dot was very hard to see unless you are in a shaded area and when I ordered it I thought it was made here, not China.

Nice red dot that fills ...

Nice red dot that fills the bill in the narrow field of mid-priced red dot sights. Why 4 stars and not 5? Brightness dial was a bit "mushy" between settings, a couple minor tooling marks were left on the cantilever mount, flip-up caps are ultra flimsy (but functional) and packaging and instructions were both barely adequate. But the things that mattered most were great. Tightly focused dot, solid feel to scope and mount, distinct vertical and horizontal adjustments, and after 75 rounds on my AR, zero is dead on. All in all, seems well worth the price. Thanks, Midway.

This is an outstanding ...

This is an outstanding sight! I was a little worried since it was only 175 in all but this thing did absolutely wonderful for me. A buddy and me took it shooting and the thing never lost zero. I deliberately beat on this thing because I wanted to make sure I could depend on it. This was a great optic to put on any AR, love it on my MP15X. Lets me use my iron sights in conjuction just perfectly. It proved very worthy. Definitely recommend it.
