Have recently completed testing four target loads in two rifles that are both known to be accurate, an older Kimber 82 wearing a 3-9x33 Leupold RF w/adj. parallax, and an ancient Marlin 80 DL with original aperture sight. I fired 5, 5 shot groups @ 50 yards bench rest, alternating rifles, over several days. For the final score, I measured all the groups and averaged them. I counted all the shots, i.e. did not throw out fliers unless I knew for certain I pulled the shot. I've used Eley Tenex as my serious target load for years, but was curious to see whether it still was best, especially when other brands got great reviews and were a lot less dinero. The ammo tried was: Eley Tenex , Remington Eley Match Extra, Wolf Match Extra, and Wolf Match Target. Eley Tenex was the most accurate in both rifles, by a small margin. The scoped Kimber's average group size with Tenex was 17/32nds inch. The open-sighted Marlin only averaged 1&1/8 inch, but my 52 year old eyes are the limiting factor for it. The difference between 1st place and 4th place was small, all groups in the Kimber were sub inch. In the Marlin the worst group average was 1 3/4". Each rifle varied the order in which ammo shot best after Tenex, in the Kimber it was Wolf Match Extra, then Wolf Match Target, lastly Remington Eley Match Extra. In the Marlin, after Tenex it liked Rem. Eley Match Extra, then Wolf Match Extra, lastly Wolf Match Target. I chronographed all shots fired, and here again Eley Tenex had the lowest extreme spreads and average deviation in both rifles. There were no dud rounds in any of the four makes of ammo.

This product is extremely ...

This product is extremely over-rated, and over-priced. CCI Select outperforms it hands down, at half the price. I get about 2% unexplained flyers with Tenex, and more with other Eley products. The lube is poor for hot climates, it leaves a mess. Eley's propellant is rather dirty burning too. Excessive soot and unburned powder grains left behind. I tried 5000 rounds of this product based upon reputation. It doesn't perform up to standard in any of my match rifles. I don't like it.

These bullets are not very consistant and dont group well at all in several barrels! We have 2 Kidd barrels a lilja and an adams and bennet and these bullets did not perform up to our standards for group shooting! Wolf match extra beat these hands down

Very good marksmanship ammo works flawless in my Savage. on top of each other groups . tight groups always. No malfunctions in 100 rounds cleaned rifle 3 times during shoots.

Tenex is without a doubt ...

Tenex is without a doubt one of the top 3 most accurate .22LR rounds available. Only Lapua X-Act and Midas + will outshoot it on a regular basis. If Tenex is a bit too much for your budget, Try Eley Match and Eley Team. Both of those rounds were loaded to be Tenex but didn't meet the strict accuracy requirements so were downgraded to Match and then Team. Despite this I've found that good lots of both will often shoot just as good as Tenex...sometimes better!

Just shot 50 rounds of ...

Just shot 50 rounds of Eley Tenex thru my new Cooper TRP-3 and had five failures, the rounds would not ignite. Have fired hundreds of Eley match ammo along with Lapua and Federal all without a problem. The ammo was also the least accurate of all ammo tried so far. I will not be buying more of this ammo.

I have a Ruger 10/22 with ...

I have a Ruger 10/22 with a Green Mountain barrel. I bought several different types of 22 LR ammo to see which was the most accurate in my rifle. Eley match was the best at 50 yds (0.45"). Aguila Match was second at 0.55". Winchester Supreme was third at 0.60". Eley Tenex was also good at 0.75". For the money, Aguila Match was the best buy for for my rifle. I must report that Tenex was the only ammo which caused FTF problems (failure to feed).

The most accurate .22 ...

The most accurate .22 round I have shot in 45 plus years of shooting. I have had only one failure to fire in over 20,000 rounds; this is reliability!

You'll generally get more ...

You'll generally get more accuracy from more expensive ammo but my gun (a scoped Savage Mark II TR), just happened to like the slightly less expensive Eley Match than this stuff, where tight groups are concerned. Eley Tenex was definitely one of the several top-shelf, top performers and it held probably 1.75" groups at 100 yards. This is worth including in experimenting to find the rounds which get the most precision out of your .22.

They were accurate but, I have to stay with the Wolf Match Extra. For target shooting in general, they are ok. But for competition. I will stay with Wolf Extra.

I bought a box of the Tenex to try in of my Ruger 10/22 with a heavy match barrel, it shot great, worth the money if you are a serious shooter.
