Product Information

Hornady has taken their Flex Tip Expanding bullet they use in their LEVERevolution and made it available in a projectile only. The patented Flex Tip bullet features an interlocking design that keeps the core of the bullet and the jacket together creating a deeper penetrating, more humane kill. Not only that, they offer controlled expansion, enhanced accuracy and the delivery of flatter trajectories. These bullets are safe to use in all tubular magazines.

FYI: The short neck and steep shoulder of the 300 Savage require a projectile with a configuration and cannalure location like this one. IMR 3031 lends itself well to this round giving near .308 Win. performance while still remaining mild of report and recoil, and IMHO reinforces the Model 99s reputation as the most accurate lever-action field rifle made. While the soft-tip is not necessary in the Model 99s rotary mag. the enhanced ballistics make it a worthwhile choice for the 300 Savage.

This bullet is of course the same bullet used in the loaded 308MX ammo. That ammo has been good for me in shots from 115 to 405 yards. Its obviously a deer caliber, and does act kind of soft if used up close on bone. If you do have a short distance shot, aim for the lungs, as a shoulder shot would be a little much for this bullet. Its very accurate, and very effective. I've got some accurate loads, but nothing that can match factory at this time. Hornady has special proprietary powder that is hard to match.

308ME FTX finally available.Same as 30-30 version but crimp band further out, moving ogive closer to lands to increase accuracy.

Used 30-30 version in ME until 308 ME came available. Same bullet with relocated crimp grove. Performance should be closer to 308 Win now.Both are great and easy to load.

Good bullet for the Marlin Express .308. Takes down deer with authority but on hogs you had better not hit the shoulder bone or you will have the off shoulder completely bloodshot and unfit to eat. Shot placement is everything.
