COWBOY COMPETITION DRY-FIRE SAFETY
MARLIN "S" MODEL RIFLES
Remove the tang screw and the butt stock..
A .075" hex key is required to remove the set screw at the left rear of the receiver. Remove the set screw, spring, and
detent ball; removing these parts over a terry cloth towel or bowl is recommended to avoid losing these small parts. Remove
the safety button by withdrawing it from the right side of the receiver.
Insert the Cowboy Competition Dry-fire Safety Device into the hole in the receiver from which the safety button was
removed. Insert the Cowboy Competition Dry-fire Safety Device so that the screw slot is facing out the right side of the
receiver and the detent groove is facing the rear of the receiver.
Reinstall the detent ball, spring, and set screw into the rear of the receiver. A dab of wheel bearing grease on the detent
ball and spring will help prevent loss. Tighten the set screw so that it is flush with the rear of the receiver. Do not
overtighten the set screw because overtightening will prevent normal rotation of the Cowboy Competition Dry-fire Safety
Rotate the Cowboy Competition Dry-fire Safety Device to ensure that it rotates between rotational limits.
Reinstall the butt stock and tang screw.
Rotate the Cowboy Competition Dry-fire Safety Device to the right (clockwise) to the "safe" position.
Manually lower the hammer onto the hammer block to verify that the Cowboy Competition Dry-fire Safety Device is
actuated and preventing the hammer from impacting the firing pin.
Return the hammer to the full cock position and dry-fire the firearm. The action can be cycled to reset the hammer to the
full cock position for repetitive dry-firing.
