I just installed a carbine length tube on my S&W M&P15 sport, and I am very pleased with it. It's two piece construction makes it a breeze to install. The finish also impeccably matches the receiver finishes as well.

Bought two. One for ...

Bought two. One for carbine 16" bull barrel upper and one for 24" Grendel upper. Both fit well, installed easily and look good. Only complaint was they both required about 45 ft-lbs to align the gas tube hole. But still a good tube and worth the money for the accuracy improvement.

This free float tube was ...

This free float tube was easy to install and went on with no problems. It eliminated a lot of the hardware holding the barrel onto the receiver as well. I had no issues with the gas block on my Rock River either. Seems to be a sturdy, well built unit. I hope it provides an increase in accuracy now that the barrel is free floated.

The thin barrel of my ...

The thin barrel of my Colt SP-1 is so flexible that it hit in a different place depending on how you held the original handguard. This product allowed the barrel to float providing consistent small groups. It was too long to fit the OEM tall front sight so I was forced to cut 1/8" off the length. While I was at it, I drilled some vent holes so I have not had any heat problems. Requires a gunsmith to install. If you want good groups, you MUST have a floating handguard!

I have one on my DPMS ...

I have one on my DPMS 16in. hvy.barrel lo-pro.I have had no problems with overheating,but I only use it for target shooting,woodchuck hunting and coyote hunting.I dont shoot a round every 9-10 seconds,which at 50 rounds is only 8.34 min.,so in a hour is 360 rounds.I dont have that many mags pre-loaded so i take a few minutes to reload my 10 rnd mags. which is what i use when hunting.I also dont have that many "targets" that would stay around for 50 shots down range which is 50 kills. I do like how fast the aluminum handguard cools since it doesnt hold heat,is fully free floated,and covers my gas block.It cut my group size down,and it looks good.I dont like the fact that if you want to use a harris bipod,you have to drill it and you have to make sure its on tight,and then mark it dead center.If not,either your handguard is loose or your bipod is not straight and level.Overall a quality product worth the time to install correctly.

I mounted mine on a Colt ...

I mounted mine on a Colt Carbine which previously had plastic handguards. Overheats during prairie dog hunting in Montana. Firing continually for 4 x 30 rounds mags full. The handguard was too hot to touch after 3 mags and had to let it cool for 15 minutes before you can shoot off-hand. Went back to the plastic colt handguards. This is nicely made but application may not suit continuous firing as in prairie dog hunting.

This tube is easy to ...

This tube is easy to install but I found I had to trim it 1/16" to get clearance between the front sight gas block and the tube. I was mounting it on a 16" Colt. Instead of trimming the gas block I used a steel base plate and 100 grit sandpaper to trim to length and then polished the end using finer grit paper. My only problem now is refinishing the end. Since I can't blue it I will probably use sight black. I buy a lot of DPMS parts and this is the first one I had to fit.

The only problem I had ...

The only problem I had was that I had to cut the gas block so that the barrel was free floating. The tube should be .040 shorted for 16in carbine style barrels or a gas block that is pre-cut to clear the tube.
