This DPMS Carbon Fiber AR-15 Handguard free floats the barrel for increased accuracy potential. The handguard's carbon fiber construction makes it 40 percent lighter than a standard aluminum tube, as well as much more efficient at dissipating the heat radiating from a hot barrel. Despite its light weight, this handguard is rigid and durable enough for use in action shooting competitions such as 3-Gun. Installation is semi-permanent since the handguard must be secured to its proprietary barrel nut with the included epoxy cement.

Great hand guard and looks awesome but it DOES get hot! If you shoot 5-6 round not but after 20-30 rounds the guard does get hot! Wish had air holes on the underside to help with getting rid of the heat. Great Hand Guard though. Very easy to put on just keep everything clean prior to applying the epoxy!

My AR came with this hand guard. The main thing I don't like is how slick it is. If your hands are sweaty, wet or if you have cloth gloves it's going to be impossible to get a firm grip. I am changing to an aluminum guard, probably with customizable rails.

I finally got all the parts to assemble my upper & with the carbon fiber wrapped barrel & this handguard it really lightened up the carbine (compared to stock bbl & handguard). I too didn't like the idea of gluing the handguard on, but if you want the lighter weight & look of carbon fiber, there isn't any other way to do it.

Unit comes in 2 pieces, the carbon fiber tube and the barrel nut. You epoxy the 2 together after you have installed the barrel. The supplied 5 minute epoxy failed on the first one I did. I have used Devcon high strength on others with no problems. The tube has a very high gloss finish that isn't apparent in the pictures. If you're looking for a lightweight handguard that looks different, give it a try.

I really liked the DPMS carbon fiber free float hand guard I bought for my ar-15. It looks great and functions even better. After installing it my groups went from five to six inches, to half to three quarters of an inch. The only thing I didn't like is that the barrel nut for the hand guard is first put on then you glue the tube to the nut making disassembly difficult. It also wouldn't fit with my original gas block so I had to get another low profile one to replace it. But all in all with the new gas block and hand guard my rifle shoots much better and looks great. So if you are not planning on taking your rifle apart once you install this and you like the look of carbon fiber then this one is for you.

Excellent hand guard. Nice fit on my DPMS. I like to plink on steel plates a lot out to 150 yds. This hand guard does not get too hot to hold unlike my old aluminum hand guard so I can shoot more without stopping to cool down. Worth the money and it looks great on my AR.
