Includes an automatic bolt release that enables the shooter to simply pull back bolt slightly to the rear to release it. Also includes target grade hammer, hammer shims and hammer spring. Hammer is precision surface ground to provide a 2-1/2 lb trigger pull. Requires disassembly of the trigger assembly for installation.

Please Note: Some Ruger 10/22 models will require the use of two Ruger hammer bushings for proper insallation (product 510559). 10/22's that already have separate hammer bushings will not need new ones as the factory ones can be re-used.

I have the 10/22DSP and while I like the rifle the trigger pull was heavier than I prefer. This product went in like a breeze and now I have a very nice light crisp trigger. It is like a custom trigger job in a box and with the automatic bolt release it is a very good value.

I purchased this hammer kit on sale to replace a butchered factory hammer in a used Ruger I acquired a while ago. The quality of all the parts in the kit are excellent! This hammer is one of the few replacements available as Ruger will not sell you any fire control factory parts which includes the hammer. As for producing a better trigger pull? Most of the aftermarket triggers including the Volquartsen will reduce the force required to release the hammer but that's ALL it will do. While you might find a slight improvement in trigger pull quality if your stock trigger group is really nasty, the reality is, you'll end up with a creepy/gritty/ over travelled trigger with a reduced pull force. You will never get a truly excellent trigger without the hand work by a experienced properly equipped human being tuning your trigger group in your specific gun.The automatic bolt release works flawlessly. It is an addition that all 10-22's should have. I usually just modify the stock release as it is easy once you now how. The release supplied with my kit was nickel plated not blued.I recommend putting your money towards a professionally done trigger job using the stock Ruger trigger parts.Unless you need an available replacement 10-22 hammer.

As others have noted, if there is one upgrade you should make to your Ruger 10/22, this is it. If you watch the available videos about installation, you can complete the installation of both parts in about 20 min. The improvement in the trigger pull is just as advertised. I agree with others that it is best to keep the factory springs. The bolt release improvement is outstanding. I can not understand why Ruger does not include this feature as standard issue.

Worth it, but barely.

I received this Volquartsen hammer and the recoil buffer replacement yesterday, and installed them in a fairly new VLEH model of the 10/22. This was to be the frosting on the cake, as I have the little tack driver already topped with a Nikon Rimfire and replaced the dirt-attracting Hogue stock with a laminated thumbhole beauty from Boyd's. Many years ago I did this same hammer replacement in another 10/22. It was easy to install, and worked better than I imagined. Now the Ruger trigger housing is made of plastic, and as I tried feverishly to install the hammer in this one, other pins started dropping out. This was a pain, and with a third hand I was able to get it done. Results? The long take-up is still there. But the trigger breaks with the an identical pressure to the take-up. I'm not sure if this is as good as it is supposed to get these days, but it beats the heck out of the hard factory pull. I'll get used to it in time I suppose... not being able to tell when it's about to fire.

The bolt release works like a charm. The target hammer also reduced trigger weight noticeably. It comes with a pin that is used to help with the reassembly and is a fantastic feature. Whoever came up with that should get a raise. The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is that the included Trigger Plunger Spring is not strong enough to reset the trigger of a new 10/22. I simply put the stock spring back in. Overall, I am satisfied with the kit and I would recommend it.

Great product! Parts are finely machined and finished. Drop-in installation requires only a screwdriver and a punch to push the pins out of the trigger assembly. A vise is handy, but not required for putting the new spring on the hammer strut. This unit fixes a real flaw in 10-22 design which is the complicated (three hands required) operation of the OEM bolt lock mechanism, and greatly improves the OEM trigger. I do not have a trigger pull scale, but I estimate this reduced the trigger pull by 50-60% and gives the trigger a much cleaner feel. Only drawback, and reason I cannot give 5 stars, is the directions. The directions are written on a tiny scrap of paper and dont include any pictures. Installation is pretty straightforward, but if the user doesnt have a good understanding of how all the bits and pieces in the 10-22 trigger unit fit together, there is bound to be difficulty. Fortunately, there are several good videos available on youtube which show how to install this, and similar, units.

This kit did the trick for fixing the stubborn bolt release and stiff trigger on my stock 10/22! The installation was a breeze. The description says this does NOT include the hammer bushings, however mine did! Unfortunately I did also order the bushings at the same time.

Easy to install and I did not need any instructions (but I'd disassembled the trigger group before). Trigger would not reset with the return spring supplied, so I reinstalled the old one. While not quite as light, trigger feel is much crisper and lighter than stock, with no creep. I love the simplified bolt release.

If you could only purchase one upgrade for your 10/22 this is the one. Not only do you get the convenience of the auto bolt release but you also drop your trigger pull from a gritty and tough 8lbs. factory pull to a clean and crisp 2.5lbs.!

Super easy to install, as noted in previous reviews the bushings are included in the kit, and also as previously noted the instructions are useless!!! When you open the package take the instructions and crumple them up and save them in your bug out bag so you can start a fire!! They're completely useless!! Watch a couple YouTube videos and its easy.

One of the best mods to do if your trigger is not creepy or gritty but reasonablly good. Trigger pull weight cut in half without using the enclosed springs. I had trouble releasing the bolt in the past - now all I have to do is pull back on the bolt handle to release the bolt. If you clean your 10/22 barrel from the front, you may want to get the Possum Hollow cleaning mag insert so you won't release the bolt if you hit it with the cleaning rod (if you don't break the gun down for cleaning every time). No trouble adding the mod (instructions included). There are also several videos on the internet on performing 10/22 mods.
