The leather and fit of ...

The leather and fit of the holster to the pistol are good. Surprisingly, carrying a 14" scoped pistol on your hip is more practical than it sounds. You may prefer this over a shoulder rig as being easier to take on and off. I use mine with a trap and skeet style shell pouch on the left (opposite) side, on a wide military style belt. I use it for target shooting, or just short walks around the farm. For my type of use, this is the correct holster. If you are going to be walking a lot or wearing it all day, you may prefer a shoulder rig for it's weight distribution and higher position of the pistol. I have owned a competitors' shoulder rig before, and found it to be much harder to put on and adjust -especially with winter clothing on- but probably better for long term carry.

I found this holster to ...

I found this holster to be cumbersome. The fit to the Contender was OK, but was not solid on the hip when walking, resulting in squeaking. This is not a holster for a walking hunter. Also fit the Encore, but the strap is to short to snap over trigger guard.
