Terrific scope!

I have used this scope on both a Ruger #1 and a Marlin 1895 - both rifles in 45/70 Govt, and a CZ550 in 416 Rigby. It will hold up well to recoil. The crosshair is heavy but the optics are clear, eye relief is excellent and you almost forget that it's on the rifle. I hate having to put a scope on a levergun, but this one is so lightweight that I'm OK with it.

Absolutely great scope, I was looking for something low powered for my Armalite M-15. the heavy duplex makes it very easy to quickly line up your shot and is very clear in high and semi-low light conditions. Solid clicks for adjustments makes it very easy to sight in as well as adjust for range and wind. Due to its very low weight, I can barely notice its there when carrying it around. This is my first Leupold scope and certainly will not be my last!

I have a VX-3 1.5x5 on a .416 Rem Mag with the Hvy Dplx and it's great, I planned on this same scope for my new CZ 550 Safari Classic in .500 Jeffery, but opted instead for the FX-II Ultralight in 2.5x because of the eye relief it offers. Being a fixed power it does not have the power ring to interfere with mounting the scope as far forward as possible. Only room for improvement would be offering it with a 36mm ocular lens in place of the 32mm to increase the FOV.

The scope is every bit as good as hoped. One caution is that the Leupold "Heavy Duplex" reticule is, indeed, heavy. Unless you are in deep woods at first light or last light, the "Wide Duplex" option will serve better. The "Heavy Duplex" serves me well here in the woods on the coast. The scope weighs less than some red dot sights, has boodles of eye relief and field of view.

I needed a scope for a CZ ...

I needed a scope for a CZ 550 American Safari Magnum in 458 Lott. I had a Leupold 1.5-5 VX-III for the purpose but the variable power ring pushed the ocular bell far enough out over the tang that the scope kissed me in the forehead once in a while. I needed a fixed power scope that would not extend beyond the bolt shroud. To my surprise, Leupold no longer makes a full size 2.5x fixed power scope, but they do make the Ultralight. This scope has 4.9 inches of eye relief, and is bright, clear and rugged like all Leupold's I've owned; however, the ocular lens is 32mm instead of the standard 36mm. This reduces the field of view and makes me feel like I'm looking through a narrow tube. I don't think the 1 to 2 oz weight saving of the smaller ocular diameter is worth the smaller sight picture, hence 4 stars, not 5. But it was the only game in town and it performed well in Africa. The Burris 2.5x Fullfield II fixed power scope only has 3.5-3.8 inches of eye relief, which is shorter than I like for most hunting rifles, and way too short for this one.

Got this one particularly ...

Got this one particularly for the eye relief and it has plenty of that. Mounted it on a custom built .358 Win. Built on a Win. Model 70 Featherweight that has a bit too much length of pull. So, instead of chopping the stock or playing with customer mounts, I opted to go with a scope with a bit more eye relief. However, I did not check out Leupolds Reticle specs before I purchased. Unless you really need it, go with the regular duplex, because these cross hairs subtend (Cover) 2.8 inches at 100 yards! I expected this rifle to shoot well within that at 100 yards, but its tough to do when your reticle covers the entire target! Field of view is a bit tight, but other than that, it worked just fine and is very crisp.

This product is exactly as described by Midway. I have it for a short range brush rifle, and it fits that bill perfectly. The long eye relief and heavy duplex reticle are ideal for quick spot on target acquisition. The Leupold scope is high quality for a much lower price than other high end brands. This is my 3rd Leupold product and will not be my last.
