Shilen Remington 700 barrels are pre-threaded short-chambered and crowned. Barrel exteriors are polished to a 180-grit finish, and the bores have been hand lapped. Requires installation and finish chambering by a qualified gunsmith.

I got this barrel to ...

I got this barrel to improve the accuracy of my Remington 700 in .30-06 and widen the range of game I can take with it. I was meticulous with this rebuild and it has payed off. After disassembly I trued all critical surfaces on the receiver as well as the bolt (all of which were pretty darn close to perfect, so hats off to Remington's production practices). I then chambered the barrel carefully checking progress with my go/no-go gauges. Next, I epoxy and pillar bedded it into a nice laminate stock from Boyd's. (I learned a trick from an old competition shooter to use an inch/lb torque wrench to tighten the action screws; makes a huge difference). I took it to the range with some handloads made for it and the difference is stunning. It was an accurate rifle to begin with, but would give me 'flyers'. It doesn't do that anymore. It's a fantastic rifle now and this high quality barrel does its part!

Outstanding high quality ...

Outstanding high quality barrel for the money. Barrel was cut to 24" and recessed target crown replaced factory. 1-hole groups at 100yds with 250grn Sierra bullets. All tolerances within 0.0005 inches. Remington Titanium rebarrel resulted in a 6.5 pd rifle, loaded and scoped.
