Product Information

Honing the chamber leaves a beautiful finish that is wear and corrosion resistant. Honing removes machining marks and irregularities in the metal, leaving a more uniform surface that is better able to hold protective lubricants.

Technical Information

Flex-Hone® Honing Tools

Materials:

Twisted steel wire shaft

Abrasive globules on flexible nylon filaments

Shotgun Barrel Hones

Features:

All shotgun barrel hones have a 3" abrasive section and are 34" overall

Wire stem and hone tip are coated with plastic to protect barrel

Medium and fine grit available for each gauge

Shotgun Chamber Hones

Features:

All chamber hones have a 3" abrasive section and are 12" overall
Wire stem and hone tip are coated with plastic to protect chamber
All chamber hones are fine grit

Shotgun Forcing Cone Hones

Features:

All forcing cone hones have a 1 5/8" abrasive section, and are 10" overall

Medium and fine grit available for each gauge

Rifle and Handgun Hones

Cylinder Flex Hones

Features:

All revolver cylinder hones have a 1 5/8" abrasive section and are 3" overall

Rifle Chamber Hones

Features:

All rifle chamber hones have a 1 5/8" abrasive section, and are 14" overall

Auto Pistol Specialty Hones

Features:

Sizes vary depending on use

Worked like a charm

We had a nasty chamber to clean up and this item did the trick. Used in conjunction with the Flex-hone oil really produced a nice chamber. The product can be improved which is why I only gave it 4 stars. The end that gets inserted into a drill needs to have a hex fitting on it and not just the wire ends. Other than that it worked great.

I used this on a Stoeger ...

I used this on a Stoeger Coach Gun to get the shells to fall out on their own for quicker reloads for Cowboy Action Shooting. I just followed the instructions and about 5 minutes later the shells just fell out. Works as advertised!

I purchased a new barrel ...

I purchased a new barrel for my 870 (from Midway of course) but when I went to the range to try it out, about 75% of the shells from my first box got severly stuck in the chamber. Heard about this product and was skeptical because the chamber already felt really smooth. Only when I looked with a flashlight did I see slight machine marks in the chamber. Ran the hone for a bout 5 min with a couple applications of the Flex-Hone oil (good purchase) and yesterday I went out and fired a box of birdshot, 10 slugs, and 10 buck with out a hitch. Worked great for me!! Word of advice, use this in your garage unless you want to buy your wife new carpet.

I have a Remington 870 ...

I have a Remington 870 Express that came out of the factory with an *extremely* rough chamber, and previous attempts at polishing it had been unsuccessful. With the flex hone, however, I was able to give the chamber a mirror finish in a matter of minutes. I highly recommend this product.

Excellent product, I got ...

Excellent product, I got the 800 grit and lubricant. As it is a polisher a (the) coarser grit may be appropriate for improving the extraction of hulls for cowboy reloads. Watch the edges of the extractor itself and removing it would be a good idea before polishing.
