Shilen Remington 700 barrels are pre-threaded short-chambered and crowned. Barrel exteriors are polished to a 180-grit finish, and the bores have been hand lapped. Requires installation and finish chambering by a qualified gunsmith.

Inspected the barrel on ...

Inspected the barrel on receipt and found the crown needed a little attention. The tenon threads were a good fit into the receiver. Hand reamed the chamber about .019" to get a +1 headspace. At the range during load workups, this barrel shot 80% of the groups, of 5 rounds each, under 1" with the best at .379". Overall a very good barrel and a very good way to go as far as building a rifle without a lathe and on a budget. This is my second Shilen prefit short chambered barrel and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
