Sierra MatchKing bullets have very thin jackets and are held to exacting tolerances in diameter and weight. These Hollow Point Boat Tail bullets have a small meplat to produce a higher ballistic coefficient. Their accuracy has been acclaimed worldwide and they have been used to win more target competitions than all target bullets from other manufacturers combined. The 303 Caliber 174 Grain MatchKing is very popular in England, Canada, and Australia for the 303 Lee-Enfield service rifle. This is not loaded ammunition.

Hand loaded in my 7.65x53 custom target Mauser. At 200 yards will shoot 1/2" groups as long as I do my part. Not recommended by Sierra for hunting but used on an antelope hunt 2 days ago and performance was outstanding. I didn't recover bullet but exit hole, back edge of shoulders hit, was size of a quarter. Standard game bullet would have done equal amount of damage on a small antelope. Use on thin skinned game, in my opinion, is perfectly fine. Larger game like elk I would probably hesitate on using this bullet.

I'm not sure how to rate these bullets, so I gave them a "middle" rating. I purchased these bullets to use in my 303 Enfield. Although they are well made bullets, I found out my Enfield has a .314 grove diameter. These .311 bullets do not spin stabilize and at 30 yards they have tumbled 90 degrees and hit the paper exactly sideways. (Makes a remarkable pattern!) Other .310 and .311 bullets do the same. I'm hopeful Hornady .312 flat based bullets will spin.

I use these in my M39 ...

I use these in my M39 with IMR-4350. C.O.L. 3.025". This load will produce 2530 f.p.s. in my 23" long heavy barrel. 100 yd, groups are 3/8"-1/2" 200 yd. groups 5/8"-3/4".Very satisfied.

I have shot approx 500 of these excellent bullets through my No 1 MK 3, No 4 MK1 and P-14. They are the issue weight of the military loads and have produced better results than any other options I have tried. Will continue to use them in the future

These bullets are the best that I have used. In my jungle carbine and no.4 sniper. Both guns have scopes. These bullets are extremely accurate, they will shoot 1/2 in groups in either gun. Don't think because they are match bullets that they won't kill deer, I just killed a spike buck at about 125 yds off hand shot with my carbine. The bullet hit a little far back but there was a huge blood trail. The deer went about 75 yd but I did hit him wrong. I have tested the 303 with a lot of different powders for this bullet. The powder to use is IMR4350 just under max.

I use the Sierra 174gr ...

I use the Sierra 174gr HPBT Matchking bullets specifically in a .312 bore Mosin-Nagant 91/30 and they perform perfectly. I am loading them into PPU brass (75mm COL), using Winchester LRPs, and Varget & H380 to drive them. I am loading on the Lee (7.62X54R) dies and had to purchase the (.303 cal.) expander separately. The Lee dies come with the .308 expander as standard?!?! Nevertheless, the bullets are typical Sierra super high quality and being a boat tail design, they slip into the cases easily. They group very well and are by far the most consistent bullets I have had the chance to play with. They may not be the cheapest bullet you can buy, but you would be hard pressed to find a better one for accuracy in an old battle rifle.

I have reloaded Sierra Match King Bullets for over thirty years, and the 303's live up to the Sierra Name. At the range, they will deliver half inch groups in my old Enfield. Used in conjunction with the Sierra Reloading Manual, I had no problems working up a load that is custom suited for my Enfield.

I have fired about 700 of these bullets in my P14 and No4 Mk2 enfields with excellent results including a perfect score in the prone slow event at Camp Perry. I use H4895 powder in my match loads.
