I had a custom XP-100 ...

I had a custom XP-100 pistol build almost 30 years ago. It's a 338/308 wildcat, Krieger barrel,1x10 twist. 15 1/2", #4 contour, Burris 4x Pistol scope, McMillan stock. Had a custom set of dies made by Redding by sending 3 fired cases to them. The load is with IMR-3031, and this Speer 200 gr. Hot core Spitzer bullet for a muzzle velocity of 2470 F.P.S. This pistol shoots clover leaf groups at 100 yds. with a good rest. Ive taken a few elk with it from 70yds. to 410yds. with this load and pistol or (hand held rifle) as some call them. One 6x6 bull elk was at a lazered 386yds. 1 shot. One other 5x6 bull elk, the longest shot at the lazered 410 yds. did shoot this elk twice he was trying to get up after the first shot knock him down the second shot finished him. With this pistol and load sighted 3" high at 100 yds. it's 24" low at 400 yds. that puts the bullet impact right on the top heavy section of the lower plex in this 4x Burris pistol scope. The max range I feel comfortable taking a shot with this gun at game is 400 yds. I shot this pistol and 3 other custom XP-100's in different calibers a lot back in the days when I was hunting with them.I never recovered one of these bullets in an elk they always passed through, maybe because of the velocity this pistol is shooting them at. With my experience with this bullet, this should be the perfect bullet for the 338 Federal in a rifle for elk.

I have used these bullets ...

I have used these bullets for a few years in my custom Mauser 338-06. I have tried several different bullet makes and weights in that gun, these perform the best. I have no problem putting 5 shots into one ragged hole at 100yds shooting from a bench. On game performance is excellent. Hits hard with substantial but not excessive damage. Half a dozen whitetails have fallen to this projectile and none have made it more than 50yds. Not to mention they are the cheapest date in town. If you reload anything in 338, buy a box and see what happens.

I've used this bullet on ...

I've used this bullet on White tail, Mule deer and now Caribou. In every case the bullet dropped them in place. Last years caribou at over 200 yards the bullet passed through almost no "blood shot" meat. The bullet expands and continues on as advertised !

These bullets in a Kimber ...

These bullets in a Kimber 338 Federal have worked great. With H4895 I get right at 2500 fps and accuracy near MOA @100 yards. Only one deer to date a 135 pound doe taken @ 75 yds with a heart lung shot (DRT). Good internal damage with pass through penetration. Very little bloodshot & minimal meat destruction.

Sub minute of angle ...

Sub minute of angle accuracy from a .338 wildcat based on an 8mm Mauser case. 200 gr. Hot core printed three shots touching in .60" using WW748 and CCI primers at 2600 fps. Ought to easily take down anything I'm ever going to want to hunt and the projectiles are very reasonably priced. The Hot Cores are kind of thin jacketed, expand with great reliability and perform much like the Sierra GKs, so it might be important to keep that in mind if you're looking for a bullet on larger, thick skinned game.

I just built a .338 ...

I just built a .338 federal, on a Rem 700 short action with a 22" Shilen barrel. It shoots clover shaped one hole groups with these cheap bullets. This should be good medicine for white-tails and feral hogs.

I had my reservations ...

I had my reservations about this bullet on elk, but after a little research I determined that it was worth giving a try. I worked up a load with RL19 in a .338 Win Mag Rem Model 700 BDL and had them shooting about 1 1/2" at 100. I ended up shooting a big cow elk at 254 yards. The first hit wasn't where you'd want it, but hit hard enough to keep her from running off. The second shot put her down instantly. Both shots went completely through. I will continue to use this bullet for elk with no reservations.

I've shot these in my ...

I've shot these in my Tikka 338 Federal and am very satisfied with these bullets. I load them in front of Varget and get an average velocity of 2544 fps and 2430 fps with my load. COL is 2.827". Both give me 1/2" groups at 100 yds.

Loading these in my ...

Loading these in my 338-06 for whitetails. Using a rather mild charge of RL-15 I'm consistently getting picture-perfect one-hole groups. Have not had a shot at game, but confident based upon other experiences with the Speer Hot Cor line that they'll do very nicely. With the Hot Cor line disappearing I went out and bought as many of these as I could. I hope the replacement shoots as well.

I bought these with the ...

I bought these with the goal of developing a low recoil load for a practice round while recovering from a broken collar bone. I loaded in a 338 Win Mag 1grain over min with H4831 and got awesome groups .75 @ 100yrds. It is so nice to shoot I used it for the entire deer season; resulted in 2 bucks DRT heart lung. Late season I shot 4 doe DRT. All shots perfect pass throughs, range was 50 to 150yrds.
