The Vortex Viper PST (Precision Shooting Tactical) Rifle Scope comes with features that are typically only included on scopes in a much higher price range. The optics are fully multi-coated and deliver beautiful detail and color while transmitting 95% of available light. The tactical turrets have audible clicks which allow for precise adjustments to windage and elevation and the tube is purged with Argon gas to eliminate internal fogging and extend the life of the optics. Protective lens covers and a lifetime factory warranty are included.

How do I rate this scope, compare it to $300 or $3000 scopes? If it is only as good as $300 scopes then it wont be around long. If it is as good as $3000 scopes then they wont be around long. This scope has a lot of features and they all work as advertised, great. Its tracking and repeatability are superb. The optical clarity of this scope is very good. It does lose a little contrast on the higher powers but it is still sharp and clear. It has much better glass then the 4-16 PST I had (so much so it doesnt even seem to be related.) I am not into tactical competition so I got the SFP reticle because I like its fine cross hairs. They cover up very little of a target but are extremely sharp and easy to see. The illumination doesnt spill over and flood the image in low light. My 6-24 is mounted on a Remington R15 .223 for target and varmint shooting. The scope is mounted with a G, G & G 10 inch long mount that raises the rings inch and extends 3 inches over the hand guard, along with medium 6 hole Weaver rings. This is a fairly long scope and about 2 inches of the mount extension is take up to get the proper eye relief. The combination gives ME correct eye relief and with a 1/8 foam cheek piece perfect sight height. There is not quite 1/4 clearance between the rear scope bell and the mount so rings 1/8 shorter should also work. This does put the centerline of the scope about 3 inches above the bore so I have mounted a level on the scope. Eye relief does change as the scope zooms. Mine is perfect from 24 to 12 power. At 8 I have to move back just a little and at 6 a fair amount more. The great optical clarity (not super-duper $3000 clarity) makes it easy to concentrate and helps reduce eye fatigue while target shooting. Compared to the price this is a great scope that gets the job done and is a pleasure to use. Vortex customer service is almost perfect. Perfect being you never need it.

Great glass for price ...

Great glass for price range, you could spend double and get marginal improvement. Zero stop, fiber optic ring and turret indicators. MRAD reticle is great and the best part on this is the turrets. I think they updated them from my first release pst because the feel of these turrets is of the utmost quality! I cannot stress that enough, I have scopes costing much more that wishes they had these. Counted a total of 20 mils of travel on both. Vortex has the best C.S and warranty as well. Buy it!

There is just one thing to say about this scope. EXCELLENT!! Optics are crystal clear. Adjustments are precise and solid. Have mounted this scope on an AR-10 platform type rifle. I would recommend one thing and that is to spend the extra money and get the scope with the first focal plane. I purchased one of these also to mount on me bolt action rifle in the same scope size and it was well worth it for the added function.
