This tool was a great concept but poorly made. The tip mushroomed before the pin was driven out. I found the metal too soft for any work, don't waste your money until they learn to harden the tips of this tool properly

I was unsure about this product after reading other reviews but I had an "oops" I really wanted to fix. I had a bolt catch roll pin go in about 7/8 of the way before mushrooming. This product worked great for me. I put a layer of duct tape to protect the receiver and after a half dozen or so taps, the roll pin came out. This product is great for removing the roll pins by driving them towards the rear of the receiver. I was very pleased with the way it performed.

The protrusion on the end ...

The protrusion on the end of the punch was very small. Not very practical for what it's designed for. After a few hits the end started to mushroom out. Not a very well made product. Wouldn't recommend this punch. Feels like I threw my money away.

Good idea, but poor execution. After driving one roll pin, the rounded roll pin point was destroyed. This would be a great tool if the tip were sufficiently hardened but, as is, I wasted my money.

Mine showed up without the small protrusion on the end that centers the punch on the roll pin and prevents the pin from collapsing or mushrooming. The machining of this tool is garbage! I'll just continue taping off the side of the receiver while I use a regular roll pin punch.

Works like any other roll pin punch but the flat side is really handy. The pin can be driven in from two different directions. Don't be like John Carter and drive it from the side you can't get that hammer on. Duh.

I bought this tool to use on my first AR build and I had an incredible amount trouble installing the bolt catch roll pin, and in my case this tool only made things worse. Even with everything aligned correctly I could not install the pin and this punch actually entered the pin ruining it, I ended up making a pin to fit.

It makes installing the bolt catch much easier and safer. High quality product, looks heat treated well. Should have been made 1" longer --- this would have allowed you to do the tapping with your hammer away from any part of the lower receiver.

This is a good product it ...

This is a good product it makes the job of installing the bolt catch roll pin a lot easier because it is flat on one side. I have assembled 8 AR-15 lowers and have used this tool every time, however the end of the punch has mushroomed out and I scratched the finish of the last lower I assembled. I have been using Stag LPK's and I'm thinking the roll pins require a bit more force to install. I would give this product a 5 star rating, but I have to order another one.
