The Lee Case Trimmer and Cutter is designed to be used with only Lee Case Length Gages and Shellholders (sold separately). This handy tool is made from hardened steel, trimming cases to correct SAMMI specifications has never been easier. The shaft on the lock stud allows the setup to be turned by hand or with an electric drill.

I purchased the Lee case trimmer for my 50BMG when I started reloading for this caliber. As with one of the other reviews I found it difficult to hold on to the cutter with the shell holder chucked up in a drill. If the cutter had a ball on it, it would have been a lot easier to hold on to. I solved the problem temporarily by holding the cutter with a pair of pliers. Other than this limitation the trimmer worked flawlessly and trimmed every case to factory length specs. Overall I'm very pleased with the product and would recomend this product to any 50BMG reloader.

Good value. For trimming ...

Good value. For trimming .50 BMG, I'd like a harder steel or carbide that holds an edge longer. The cutter is barely large enough for .50 BMG, but the trim length gage centers the brass on the cutter so misalignment isn't a problem. I buy the Lee ball cutters for the smaller calibers because it's way too difficult to hold the smaller radius cutter against the torque produced when trimming brass. The torque is much greater when trimming the larger diameter and thicker walled .50 BMG brass, but no ball cutter is available for .50 BMG. Plan on chucking the cutter into a vise when trimming .50 BMG cases. On the plus side, like most Lee products, the price is low and that's a rarity in .50 BMG shooting. The low price and usable design and quality make this a good deal. With a few simple changes, it could sell for a few dollars more and be a great deal because it lasted longer and was more ergonomic.

This trimmer worked great for my 50 AE brass. I only wish that it came in a ball grip.
