Product Information

With a tube diameter of 0.635" for excellent light transmission, this steel front sight accepts different globe sight aperture inserts for different ranges, light conditions or situations. It makes a perfect companion for Taylor's Creedmore-style long-range rear tang sight. Fits any 3/8" dovetail and is drift adjustable for windage. Includes a single, post-type insert. Blue.

Decent sight for the ...

Decent sight for the price, the tab that holds the insert in could be fastened better. The dovetail fit nicely but the inserts are kind of crappy, Pedersoli inserts will fit this sight though.

Quality is OK but it ...

Quality is OK but it requires quite a bit of fitting to work. The dovetail seems to be quite oversized which for some cases is a good thing. For me I started to fit it to a Marlin 39A then found out I would need to really deepen the dovetail on my front sight base which I did not want to do. So I stopped and ordered the Lyman version instead. The Lyman fit like a glove.

Excellent Sight except ...

Excellent Sight except for keeping inserts in place. I used loctite and still lost an insert. I can live with this because I need to be more careful. My fault. The problem is that I use the sights on my silhouette rifles and only the single post insert is allowed. I had to buy the whole assortment of inserts to get the post insert that I need. I wish they would allow you to buy just that insert.

I had to call Taylor & Com. they were very good support. My gunsmith had to "ping" the front sight groove to get a good fit. The Creedmore require no gunsmithing. Rifle was a Taylor & Comm Armi Sharps 45-70.

I purchased this Taylor's Co. universal front globe sight along with their long range rear tang Creedmore sight for my Italian-made Armi Sport 1874 Sharps Sporting Rifle in 45-70 Gov't primarily because of low price, it was in-stock and feedback was favorable. The blue black finish on the article I received is much finer quality than the Midway website's hover-to-enlarge display print features which seemed to magnify even smallest milling tool marks. I like the compactness and simplicity of design as compared to Lyman 17A series, and the option to purchase the aperture insert card set separately from Midway 529601 (Taylor 5504).
