I give this ammo two ...

I give this ammo two thumbs up it is definitely the best of the economical line of ammo out there at least for my handgun. After firing 200 rounds during a recent shooting session through my Taurus Millennium Pro with absolutely no malfunctions and an average group size of 5 inches at 25 yards shooting from a 2 handed standing position. I couldn't be happier with the performance I have experienced. The powder residue does seem to be a little dirtier than other ammo brands. From my handloading experience I would have to say its about as dirty as Clays but definitely cleaner then Unique. The only real downsides I have found in this ammo is that it seems to have a lot more muzzle flash then other brands and the recoil seems to be of the slow and pushy type rather than my preferred fast and snappy recoil I gear my handloads for. As far as factory ammo is concerned I believe this will be my go to factory ammo.

Put a 100 rds through a kimber eclipse pro target. Groups were around 3.5" at 20yrds off-hand. With clean barrel, group size opened up after about 60 rds. The amount of build up in the barrel was excessive. Very difficult to clean. For sure not worth the price.

I have shot about 300 rounds of this ammunition with excellent results. I have a Kimber 1911 Custom Target II (5" barrel) with a Wilson Combat Compensator bought from MidwayUSA and also a Kimber 1911 Pro Carry II. Other brands of ammunition I would usually fire 4 rounds as a grouping in case of a flyer or me not doing my part before I go tinkering around with the sights on the Target II. This ammunition, I am confident to shoot 3 rounds for a grouping fully knowing if there is one that is not where the other 2 rounds hit, it was because of me not doing my part and to go with the 2 grouped rounds. I have won 4/4 simple local matches at 25 yards all day. The rounds cycled during practice with a full 8-round magazine. No jams at all. With these, I am capable of making 50 yard slow-fire hits on police pistol targets, and stretch it out to 60 yards. I believe off a rest, I may be able to take it out to 75 yards. Using the Pro Carry II (3" barrel), it cycles flawlessly using 7-rd or 8-rd magazines. These rounds print nicely on defense targets from 3 yards to 15 yards during fast fire. It allows me to extend the range of the 3" barrel to 25 yards on slowfire just to see what its capable of if i do my part. Firing strong-hand-only is great too. the rounds still cycle when i purposely let the pistol sit loosely in my hand trying to cause a failure to fully extract. I will be buying more of these. For those whom these rounds did not work for.....more rounds for us "5-stars" to buy.

Used this ammo and 4 other brands to break in a Taurus PT 1911. The Taurus liked the American Eagle the best, shooting 2 1/2" groups at 25 yards.

Using a SA NM 1911A1 built for Camp Perry in 1961, this basic load actually outshot Federal's Match loading costing twice as much (2.0" 5-shot group at 25 yds.). Saved money and improved accuracy.

This ammo burns very dirty. I purchased 50rds of this ammo and thought that this would be my ammo for target shooting, wrong!! I will not buy this ammo again. It was accurate and reliable but I will stick w/Magtech Cleanrange from now on. Magtech Cleanrange knocks these Federals out of the water and is just as accurate and reliable.

Yes they may be a little dirty but we talking about a $23 for a box of 50 .45 cal ammo. Great for plinking as well as home defense. I wouldn't want to get hit by them. I really like them and get no misfires at allGood stuff.

100% reliable!!! Ive bought about 800rds of this stuff before I started reloading and the price of ammo went way up. no jams, or misfires. powder build up was not bad at all. very accurate, out of my 4" Kimber compact stainless. this federal brass is very easy to prime and reload. what else can I say? it just works.

Excellent choice for Target, Price, and Accuracy. I did not find 200 rounds fired to be very dirty as some others might have. I'm very pleased with the performance of this ammo. Not one miss fire.

Best target ammo available. Yea I won't lie it's a dirty, but if youre like me you clean your gun after shooting anyway, so no big deal. I use American in my 40, 45, M4 and my dad's 357. it's the most reliable ammo I have ever used. I literally went shooting for 6 hours before and all we shot was American Eagle and we did not have any issues at all with the ammo. Great Product.

Fired 1000-1200 rounds of this in 3 days at Thunder Ranch. Not 1 failure to feed/extract. Cleaned gun twice. Pistol was Ed Brown Special Forces.
