This is an MIM part, and I am very disappointed. When I first examined it, I thought it was strange that it had a layer of paint on it, rather than bluing or parking. I also noticed that it was not as finely machined as a C&S part I bought a few weeks earlier. But when it snapped in half during installation, I then realized the paint was covering up the MIM grain. You can also clearly see the injection marks. For a few dollars more, the C&S part is infinitely higher quality.I will be calling to get a refund...

This part is injection ...

This part is injection molded and then painted, there are very unattractive molding marks everywhere and it is of very poor quality in general. Threw it in the parts bin as a spare just in case, but would not recommend to anyone.

I ordered thumb safety for TAURUS 1911 (in order to add laser grips) some small filing was needed, though not to much. it works flawless! The quality appears good. received item 4 days EARLIER than expected, GO MIDWAY!

I just put one in my taurus Pt 1911 because the ambi factory fell out when I was at the range The new sti safety is not a drop-in application, you need a good set of files and polishing tools. About 30mins of filing and polishing put in and works like a charm but the 4 star rating is because the finish is not that great.

I wanted to replace the ...

I wanted to replace the grips on my PT1911 and therefore needed to replace the ambidextrous safety on the gun. I ordered this and it's perfect. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it didn't require any fitting on my gun, just slid right in. Naturally all 1911s are different so your experience might be different but it's hard not to recommend this product.
