MTM Flip-Top Ammo Boxes are a great way to protect ammunition from moisture and dust. They feature a textured surface, stackable design a label for recording load data and internal dividers to separate shells. I have 5 of these in both ...

I have 5 of these in both clear and green. All shells fit well, both 10 and 12 gauge 3.5". The hinges work great and they shells are dry and organized. These are great once you get a box that gets wet and falls apart. I use it to keep expensive Hevi-Shot and Wingmaster HD shells secure so they don't get misplaced. I really like them.

Strong box, good room for ...

Strong box, good room for shells, easy to place and remove shells. They stack well with a ridge on the top of each box to contain the bottom of the one on top. The hinge is a snap together working mechanical hinge and doesn't depend on flexing the plastic; should last forever. Easy to dump all shells into the vest pocket at the range straight from the box.

These boxes will not ...

These boxes will not deform and gradually fall apart like the factory cardboard boxes do. I use them for ten gauge turkey, goose, and coyote loads etc. Loads that I shoot few of and carry all over the country on hunting trips. It holds the ten gauge shells firmly and prevents rattling around on long road trips. I simply tape the load recipe or factory box lid inside the cover with all the load information and lot numbers. The boxes will not hold your empty hulls its not tall enough.They're well made and reasonably priced as well.

This product is marketed ...

This product is marketed for 10 or 12 ga up to 3 1/2" shells. If you have a 10 ga or 3 1/2 12 ga, don't waste your money on these boxes - they were clearly designed by someone that has no clue how they will be used or is incapable of reading a measuring device. To begin, each compartment has ribs running vertically (one in the middle of all 4 sides) inside of each compartment. These ribs have a shoulder, rather than a taper, so shells bind when they are pushed in. I say "pushed" in because these ribs create an extremely tight fit - so tight, it is very difficult to pull them back out. As for length, a typical 3 1/2" shell will fit - I say typical because I have some 3 1/2" shells which do not have a star crimp (instead they have a paper wad with a roll crimp) which are slightly longer. These will not fit - they are too long; and as you probably guessed, don't even try to put a 3 1/2" shell back in the box after you have shot it - the shell is way too long to close the cover.I gave this one star because the system will not allow zero. I am very disgusted with this product primarily because it should be so simple to design - here are the dimensions of the shells that it needs to fit; go design a box to fit them - and they couldn't even get that right.
