MTM Deluxe Flip-Top Ammo Boxes are the full of features that is not found on any other box manufactured today. They were specifically designed to store ammunition in the bullet down position but will also store bullets with the tip up. Flip-Top Deluxe boxes feature a fold down carrying handle and are specially designed so belted magnum rounds can be carried rim up or down.

These are super boxes and ...

These are super boxes and contrary to Alan's review, these will stack, the handle is recessed, Alan was referring to the 50 count deluxe box, not this box. MTM now has the foam pads or just use carpet pad and a piece of 2 sided tape to hold it in. The foam will keep them quiet. I just wish they would add several more colors to make it easier for me to know at a glance which caliber or gun's ammo was in the box, for now it is tape and a sharpie.

I have several of the 50 ...

I have several of the 50 round boxes and carry 30-06, 308 and some 223. For carry to the range they work great. For storage they are useless!!. The design is very poor. If they recessed the handle it would be usable but as they are now they will not stack. I guess if you don't reload and just buy and transfer your ammo it will work.

This product is used for ...

This product is used for 30-06 rounds specific to the rifle it is loaded for bullet tip up so I can see the particular bullet which designates which rifle it belongs to. The inner panel on the lid carries the label holding all the load data and scope settings from the most accurate round set at "el. 0 moa x wind. 0 moa. I put a ballistics sheet folded in quarters with the data for the round in that particular box. The outer panel under the handle provides space for a label as well, indicating the rifle it is for. All in all it is a great tool when you have several guns of the same caliber. Strong latch provides secure closure. I am very satisfied with this product. Being that it in "universal" shell holder, I use a thin foam sheet cut to size over the top to keep the shells in the holes on hard back country drives so the stay in place. Good product!

MTM advertises that 300 ...

MTM advertises that 300 Win Mag ammunition can be stored either bullet tip up or down in this case. There is an "adjustment" that lowers the block in the holder, but the top still contacted the bullet tips with the block in the lowest position. I either have to carry them bullet down, or drill out the holding fingers to carry them bullet up. The case is very durable though. Don't let the pressed hinge scare you. I have one of these that was purchased in the mid-70's that is still intact.
