The Forster Hand Held Outside Neck Turner tool allows the reloader to make absolutely certain that their bullet is being released consistently from the case neck. At the point of ignition, the case neck must expand to allow bullet release. If the case neck is thicker on one side than the other, the thinner side will release the bullet sooner and causes a slight bullet-to-bore misalignment that can seriously impair accuracy. These steel pilots, also called mandrels, are precision ground .002" to .0025" smaller than bullet diameter for optimum performance.

The combination of using the Forster inside neck reamer (as a pilot, and a reamer); and the outside neck turning tool together, brings consistent results to the wall-thickness of your brass. Use only a light adjustment cut on the outside to remove inconsistence wall thickness only; while the inside reamer does its job on the inside, in one smooth operation. The shaft diameter of the Forester pilots and reamers are also compatible with RCBS trimmers. Note, that once you complete this one-time procedure, you may need to reduce you neck bushing by .001 diameter to have adequate bullet holding tension. Done right, you will have noticeable results in the consistent accuracy you achieve.

Performs as designed but the threads on the thumb bolt that holds the cartridge should have finer threads to more securely hold the cartridge.
