I own three of these scopes and will probably buy another one. The best value out there. The BDC reticle works great. Once you know your muzzle velocity, go on to Nikons website and print out your target ranges for easy access. A great tool to use along with your BDC reticle.

bought this scope to replace my Bushnell. WOW! great scope! very clear, even at dusk or dawn. I put this scope on a 22-250, using Remington accutip 50grain - hitting bullseye at 100yds. I dropped a doe in its tracks with a perfectly placed neck shot at 70yds. The next evening I missed a hog. I was aiming for head and that leaves me very small room for error. I took the gun to the range and found it was off....shooting about 2inches right and high. I found out that the retainer ring got loose- probably from bouncing around on UTV. readjusted and got my gun back on target. Few days later shot a buck right behind shoulder. Buck ran about 70yds. Shot the buck at 5:45pm....this is dark time in south Texas in December. the optics are Just so clear....cannot believe it....I love this scope! highly recommend it.

Overall an excellent scope. Bright for the size of the lens but I have to think it'd be great if it had a 50mm obj. lens. It does better than most of the less expensive scopes I have in dim light. The biggest problem I have with this model is the eye relief location is overly fussy, especially of course the higher the power. My MUCH less expensive Simmons is better in this respect. I have the BDC reticle on mine, I think if I had it to do over I would just get the fine line reticle though. The BDC is a little thick for benchrest shooting and past 100 yards it gets worse. You can work around some with the sight picture but unless you're intending on deer size targets, this does present a minor problem.

Same sight but I got the mil dot reticle which for me is simpler to use. Quality is in keeping with Nikon's reputation. Image is clear throughout the power range. I really appreciate the side focus feature. I've only had the sight for a little over a year so durability is still being determined. If I was a betting person, I'd guess I'll still be using this sight 20 years from now.

I put this scope on a savage mod 12 fvss. After finding the perfect load I'm getting .312 groups at 100 yards. and the bdc works as listed. I will be buying another.

These are awesome scopes. The BDC is amazingly helpful for people unfamiliar with Mil Dot scopes and all the math associated with that. I had never shot over 100 yards. I put this scope on my .223 and was within 1" groups at 200 yards during sight in. Within the first day of our hunting trip, the prairie dogs didn't stand a chance out to 500 yards shooting V-Max 55gr. I can safely say that this scope made our trip a success.

The clarity and ...

The clarity and brightness are good to very good and I really like the side parallax adjustment knob and the interchangable turrets. Nikon makes an excellent scope, for sure. Unfortunately, I had to downrate it by one star due to the BDC reticle. I tested the BDC circles according to the instructional brouchure (200 yard 'zero' for my magnum rounds at 3000 fps and faster)and played with every power setting to find something that worked with any of the many loads/bullet wts that I shoot through my .300 Win. Mag. If the power setting was set at it's maximum (18x) then I had one load that was very close out to 500 yards and then it completely fell apart. At more reasonable power settings (normal, flat-country hunting)like 6x or 10x, I'd have to load an extremely blunt, heavy bullet to below minimum velocity in order to get the circles even close. Example : At 9x & zeroed for 200 yards like the broucher says, the 1st circle (300 yds) is 10.8" below line of sight - 'BLOS'). The 2nd circle (400 yards) is 36" BLOS. The 3rd (500 yards) is 70" BLOS and the 4th (600yds) is 134" BLOS. The top of the post representing 700 yds is 211" BLOS. The very worst .300 Win. Mag. bullet/load (ballistically speaking) is a 200 gr soft point at a minimum velocity of 2500fps. At 700 yds, it only falls 162" BLOS. That's a far cry from 211" ! I've since switched it to my .30-30 Marlin because that's one of the few calibers that it seems to work very well on. It's a bit of over-kill to have a 6x-18x on a .30-30. Nikon's BDC reticle should have different spacing for their 6x-18x power as opposed to their 3x-9x power scope because they are used differently.

A lot of bang for the buck. Clear, easily converted to target knobs from covered adjustment caps. As bright as others costing much more money. This is a great scope. Sunshade and target knobs are great extras.Only down side? Out of stock on June 22. Should have bought at least one more at this price!

Great scope!!! I had a couple of guys at the range tell me that the scope is clearer than there Leupold scopes! I put the scope on my H&R .204 Ruger and it works well at 300 yards. BDC works well with the 32 gr V-max bullets. Wish I would have bought a couple more at that low price!

I had reservations about the BDC when I got the scope. I mounted it on a RRA Predator Pursuit rifle and went to the range. After zeroing at 100 yards I tied the BDC at 18X and it worked like a charm.I could not believe how easy it was to put lead on target at 300 yards (max at this range). I was using Prvi Partizan .223 (75 gr. BTHP's).This ammo is great at about $8 a box of 20. Consistent 1 to 1 1/4 inch 10 round groups at 100 yards w/this ammo. Good enough to hunt with...
