Quality-wise, this sling ...

Quality-wise, this sling is nice. It's good leather, stiff when new, and about what I expected based on leather Desantis holsters I've used. Mine went straight on my CMP Garand (in an effort to save a few bucks over a Turner) for a 200yd match I was shooting. Upon reading up on the use of a "standard" sling from various resources, however, I found that the frogs were not lining up with the proper holes (i.e., "the sixth set of holes," etc.) that most resources called out. While the lower (rear) loop worked great, the upper seemed too short, even for my 5'7" frame, to get into prone correctly. I've now since noticed that other products come in various sizes, from 50" to 58"; I've not done the math on this sling yet, but I highly suspect one size does NOT fit all. Maybe it works for an M1A, but I bet you find it's too short to use traditionally ("figure 8 front loop," vs. hasty sling) for your Garand.

I purchased this sling to put on a Springfield M1A standard with black synthetic stock. DeSantis gear is usually great quality and this sling was very nice but not something for a working military rifle. It was light duty with shiny brass fittings. I exchanged it for the Turner Saddlery all weather sling with parkerized fittings. That sling is the real article, very heavy duty and subdued.

The reason why I was looking for this sling in the first place was because I'm not a fan of the nylon or neoprene type of sling, and Midway USA was the one place that had the sling. I was definitely impressed with the sling and it was very easy to put on both of my guns. Thank you very much for carrying this product.
