The Vortex StrikeFire Red Dot Sight is perfect for the shooter looking for a sighting system that allows for lightning fast target acquisition and will co-witness iron sights with the extra-high weaver style ring. With this sight the user gets an unlimited field of view, unlimited eye relief and they can shoot with both eyes open because of the 1x magnification. Great sight, nice and bright. The only problem I had was the dot would go out after 1 or2 shots. I thought that it must be a battery connection issue, so pulled the battery cap off, but didn't see anything wrong. The only thing I could think of was with the recoil and the rebound of the buffer on a AR, it was compressing the spring in the cap and losing connection, so I stretched the spring about a 1/4 inch and put it back together. Well that did it, no more problem. When I got home I installed a disconnector spring under the pigtail spring that it came with to add a little bit more spring pressure to keep the battery from moving. It all works great now. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. 5 stars if it wasn't for that issue.

Did alot of shopping and talked to several guys on different gun forums before going with the Vortex. My only complaint I have is the flip caps require some effort and fanageling to close.

Bought this 2 years ago still working great! Better than spending 400+ I'm sure the expensive ones have smaller dots but this one still does the job. I've done 100 yards and gets on the target all time. Only problem I have is the on/off switch when I put it away in the bag or if I place it on the bench at home on the switch side it will turn on, then the battery dies. so I take the battery out after the range.

Wow!!! I love this sight. I own the RED ONLY sight because it is noticeably brighter than the red/greed version. Even in mid-day AZ sunshine I do not need to turn the brightness all the way up. This is mounted on an AR-15 and only have about 100 rounds downrange so far but so far - so good. Optics are clear, and so far zero has held. As others have mentioned the flip-up covers can be tough to close but that's OK because I feel the tight fit should seal out dust or water better.

Got my vortex today. Haven't had a chance to put it to use but feel of the sight is well made. the dot brightness is great and the glass is super clear. cant go wrong for the price.

Ok, I've heard so many jaw-jackers over the years saying that if you buy cheap, you buy twice. I kept that in mind when I bought this sight as, originally, a temporary fill in until I could afford an Aimpoint. Well, this sight. is tough, and it holds up. I've torture tested this thing with 1000 rounds through my Bushmaster M4, with 68 grain BTHP match loads, and it still is as accurate as the day I zeroed it. My only beefs: The on/off selector switch is unprotected against accidentally being turned on, or off, the mount it comes with is true co-witness, unlike the lower 1/3 cowitness I like, and the batteries don't last as long as the Aimpoint. Other than that, if you get an after market mount, and keep your batteries fresh, this sight won't let you down. You would be hard pressed to find a sight this good at this price, anywhere else.
