Deadly accurate bullet

I shoot this bullet out of a Thompson Center Encore using 209 primers and 120 grains of Blackhorn 209. It is a heavy load that I use to hunt whitetails in the mountains and shoots 3 shots at 100 yards almost touching. I shot a doe and spike on Monday with excellent results. Doe was 75 yards uphill on a ridge so I stood up and waited for her to step into a shooting lane bang flop. .50 caliber in and 2 inch exit as I spined her. As I approached the downed doe the spike walked out in the open broadside and I shot him through the lungs at 30 yards and he jumped and slid down the ridge 20 yards. .50 cal. hole in and 1 inch exit. I would say perfect performance for a heavier bullet used on whitetails. I think magnum charges and higher velocities will make this bullet perform better because it will promote expansion adequately. This is more bullet than needed for whitetails but there are big blackies in the woods where I hunt and I feel it is necessary just in case.

Accuracy is superb out of ...

Accuracy is superb out of my Traditions Pursuit with 150 gr of 777 and a CCI Mag primer, 1" groups at 100, 2.5"-3" at 200. Shot two deer last season, mixed results. First one at 25 yards, entered right front chest, ended up just under the skin in front of left hip, mushroomed to .80 and still weighed 238.5 grains, 20 yard downhill stumble. Second one not quite as clean. Doe laying in a hayfield, took 150 yard (rangefinder) shot at the neck, hit exactly where I wanted, rolled over immediately. Unfortunately on the walk to her, she got up and ran with visible entry and exit wound in the neck but disappeared, blood trail stopped after 25 yards. Never did find her, not even a carcass while hunting small game with dogs in the weeks that followed. Shoots best out of my gun with a clean barrel, dirtier it gets the more they wander low and right.

Fired them today (10/21/08) and had excellent results after two fouling shots. CVA apollo 1996 w/scope 2 1/2 inches high @ 100 yards. That's exactly what I wanted. I should underline "exactly".

Like other powerbelts these load and shoot well, I still am not sure about the expansion, took a buck at 50 yds had a pass through but not the exit I would expect.
