Excellent accuracy in S&W Model 686, Model 27 and Model 28 when used with W231 powder. Did check bullet creep and found little if any--nothing more than a few thousandths of an inch on last chamber and nothing that would interfere with cylinder rotation. Used a fairly heavy crimp, but no noticeble pressure problems. Have used for target shooting and have killed several deer with bullet--good expansion. Will continue to use this bullet as long as it is available.

I was unable to work up to max loads with this bullet. This was due to the lack of a crimp ring. At close to max loads I couldn't crimp this bullet tight enough to prevent the bullets from moving in the cases. When used in mild mag. loads and 38 +P they were accurate and very consistent.

Bullets lack a proper ...

Bullets lack a proper channellure and only have a tapering on them designed to prevent backing out of the case. This makes them suspect for use in a tubular magazine (don't recommend). With hot loads, and standard roll crimping they back out on my S&W 640 by the 4th or 5th round and bind the cylinders. Experiments with the degree of roll crimp have not yielded any success with these. My guess is if you have a heavier revolver this would not be an issue, but given they are more or less defense bullets, the design of them is very poor.

Nice shooting bullets but ...

Nice shooting bullets but the crimping is a little unusual. I found a light roll crimp over the shoulder in a .38 special worked just fine, but a little heaver crimp in .357 was required to keep the bullet from setting deeper in the adjacent chambers with the extra recoil of the .357. Good consistency in weight and diameter and overall a good shooting bullet.

This bullet was fun to ...

This bullet was fun to experiment with. I didn't realize that the hollow point was strictly a hydraulic function. I loaded these things up to the max load in the Lee book and man did they crank. I had them penetrating 3/4 OSB sandwiched between 2 sheets of 16 guage in front of a jug of water only to watch the jug disintegrate. The bullet had a nice mushroom and had good retention. I did crimp these very tight. I had someone tell me to back off the crimp, but as someone noted before the bullets creep out of the cases. When these are on sale they are a great plinking load, especially if you run the same bullet as a factory load for personal protection.

Regarding reported problems with bullets jamming cylinders under recoil:I have used Redding's profile crimp die and Lee's Winchester 348 factory crimp die to prevent bullets changing OAL under recoil. For cartridges not available in Lee's factory crimp dies a modified case extender can be made. In the above example I used a 30-06 case chopped and reamed, then filled with epoxy to lift the 357 mag case to the correct length for crimping. This technique was also successful in using a 7.62 x39 Lee factory crimp die to crimp 7.62x25 cases to hold Hornady .308 90 gr XTP bullets. A check of Lee's 2006 catalog now shows factory crimp dies are available for 357 Sig and 7.62 x 25 Tokarev cartridges. To use the 357 Sig die to crimp 357 Mag case a sleeve can be lath turned to lower the 357 Mag case to the 357 Sig length. I've used this method for crimping 7.62 x 54R cases with a 30-30 factory crimp die. In that situation a thick washer was drilled and milled to alter the case length difference.

No problem with creep. ...

No problem with creep. Used one turn roll crimp with Lee crimp die. HS-6, 1.577, CCI 550 per Speer 13 gives 1.2" at 25 yards off a mediocre rest in a 6" Ruger GP100. Next best was Universal with CCI 500 @ 1.8".

I bought a box of these ...

I bought a box of these from a gun dealer at a gun show. I was very disappointed as the bullets kept creeping out of the cases which in turn made my 357 taurus jam. I then advised the gun dealer which advised me to use them in a larger and heavier gun but after reading the Midway reviews it is clearly a problem on the bullets and not the gun. Appears to be a good bullet but needs some type of canluar to be able to get a good grimp.
