Product Information

Within every Remington primer is a group of subcomponents assembled to exceptionally tight tolerances. Primer cup dimensions are controlled to .0001", and the priming mix is specially formulated for consistent ignition with a wide variety of powder types. Primers are tested for reliability from -20 degrees F to +150 degrees F. The unique tripod anvil design creates a larger strike area with maximum sensitivity, even with off center firing pin strikes.

I bought 1000 of these ...

I bought 1000 of these and out of the first 10 I have used, I had 2 duds! Deep indents from the firing pin so the gun is not the problem. Maybe I was just unlucky to get 2 bad ones in one box, but it does make me wonder - have to see what happens with the other 990. I know, and have had experience with, other brands that turned up an occasional misfire - perhaps 2-3 in 1000 - but 2 out of 10, if the trend continues, seems a bit much. At that rate they may be OK for plinking; they seem to perform as well as any other primer, but I'd not want to trust my life to them!

I have been a reloader ...

I have been a reloader since 1967 and have used many different type of primers but the Rem. 9 1/2 has been the best primer I have used. I use them for all my large rifles and since I compete in the CMP games I insist on a quality primer. it would not do to be on the line and have a misfire. Great quality, keep making them.

I have used these Primers ...

I have used these Primers for years. I have some, a box of 1000, I bought in 1972 that were kept in very bad conditions (HOT & COLD, Dry & Damp)in a coffee can, not one mis-fire in my 45 - 70 or .243 Win. I would not advise doing that, but does show a good product.

I just started to reload ...

I just started to reload and since I have nothing to compare these to I gave them 4 stars. So far I have reloaded and shot about 200 of these without 1 misfire and all my groups have been half-moa even with a dirty barrel in my Weatherby vanguard varmint special 22-250.

Excellent SD with most ...

Excellent SD with most powders I use. They are hard, but not as hard as CCI 200's; they are easier to seat in my experience. Also seem to tolerate off-center firing pin strikes better than some of the others I've used.

I have used Remington, ...

I have used Remington, CCI, Winchester and Federal primers. I currently use Remington 9 1/2 primers for all my large rifle cartridges. I load them in 6mm Rem, 300 WM, 30-06, 25-06, 308 and 35 Whelen. They give very consistent accuracy and velocity. I have used around 5000 primers in the last 4 years. None have failed to function. They work well with IMR, Reloader and Hodgdon powders. Groups with IMR 4350 in most rifles go under 1". The Whelen posts 3/4" groups with Rem. primers and Brass and Reloader 15. Very good, consistent primers.
