I purchased these bullets ...

I purchased these bullets for plinking.Loaded some and went to the range.These bullets are tack drivers out ofmy 14' T/C.I went through the box and weighed the bullets very very consistent.Also shot two coyotes with these bullets both performed very well.Exspanded perfectly did not blow up.I dont shoot the higher priced bulets any more.

I purchased 1000 of these bullets to try in my 22 Hornet. After setting the oal to 1.760 on one cartridge I loaded 10 and measured them. The oal was running from about 1.756 to about 1.772. I proceeded to measure the unloaded bullets and the length ranged from .516 to .529. I sorted the entire 1000 and wound up with four groups sorted by average length as follows .518, .522, .525, and .528 about 25% each average. Most of the bullets averaging .525 have a flaw in the base. The first 10 cartridges I loaded shot all over the target at 100 yards. I have since loaded 20 more of the .518 average length bullets with various powder charges, these loaded at 1.760 varied from about 1.757 to about 1.762 and the best group shot about 1.25 inch the worst shot about 1.5 inch at 100 yards.

I use these in my Ruger 22 Hornet. I load them up with 13 grains of Lil Gun powder and they work just fine. Really can't beat them for the price.

Well under 1 moa at ...

Well under 1 moa at 100yds in my ANSCHTZ .22 Hornet and one ragged hole at 50 yards (using moderate fps loads). I was very surprised since the stubby little bullet doesn't look like a target bullet but that is tight shooting!!!

I questioned if this ...

I questioned if this bullet would hold together at higher velocity since it is intended as a .22 Hornet application. I loaded to well over 4,000 fps in a .22-250 and still cut clean holes at 100 yards. I have used this in a .223 with H335--not great groups but adequate for 150 yard head shots on woodchucks--no exit. I have also used it with Blue Dot reduced loads and sub MOA groups @ 100 yards. It is not the most accurate .224 bullet, but for the price it is adequate for many short to midrange uses.

Just FYI: ballistic ...

Just FYI: ballistic coefficient is 0.206; nominal sectional density is 0.128. These bullets tend to run heavier than spec; my median for 35 of them was 45.6 grains. They are very short; if your cases run shorter than SAAMI spec, you'll have to load them with just a tiddly bit of bullet actually in the neck to get any length out of them. I found that an OAL of 2.200" produced a round that functioned well in my rifle; your mileage may vary. I regard them as an inexpensive plinking bullet for short-range practice sessions only, but quite well-suited to that limited purpose. My results are based on loading this bullet for a special application in .223 Remington. It is undoubtedly better suited for general use in .22 Hornet and similar.

I questioned if these bullets were limited to Hornet velocity, so I tried maximum loads in a .22-250. The bullets cut clean holes in the target, so at well over 3,500 fps they are not coming apart. At the price for 500, they make a lot of inexpensive shooting fun. In a .223 capable of 1/2 MOA groups with match grade loads these group slightly over an inch, on average. The jacket, as reported earlier, is tough enough to withstand 22-250 velocity in a smooth 1-12" barrel; a rough barrel might be different. On woodchucks (223), they enter, disintegrate, and do not exit. No, they aren't as pretty as a custom made match bullet, and, no, they are not going to place in 500 yard egg shoots, but if one wants an effective and inexpensive .22 cal bullet for moderate range, this one is hard to beat. James Calhoun in "To Bee or .223 (Revisited)," () recommends a gopher load with Blue Dot and his 42 gr. bullet. Low noise, low recoil, greatly extended barrel life, and similar point of impact as with full power loads are his virtues. I am going to try this duplication of the .218 Bee for quieter shorter range loads. Anyway, it's a good, inexpensive bulk bullet that adds a new dimension to the 22 centerfire.
