Just used these in South Africa. 3 one-shot kills. A Springbuck at 300 meters, an Impala at 250 meters and a zebra at less than 100 meters. Don't waste money on so-called high tech bullets.

These are not a bad ...

These are not a bad bullet but they are not nearly as accurate as some of the others. I tried a box of Remington Premier Factory Ammo in my Rem 700 Sendero in .300 Ultra Mag and found the Remington Premier Factory Ammo loaded with the Nosler and Sierra Bullets performed far better than the Remington Bullet. Over all the Rem bullets opened up to about a 1.5" group at 100' while the other 2 held closer to .025". I have used Rem CoreLokt bullets for hunting for years and on game they perform well in calibers up to .270 Win, but in large magnum rifles they are not the most accurate of the choices. Overall though they are still not a bad bullet and should stay well within "minute of deer" out to 300's or so!

I have used CoreLokt in ...

I have used CoreLokt in 180gr. and 165gr.in my '06 and .308 and.300 savages. I have kept the velocities to a few feet of maximum for each listed caliber. Never had separation or breakup of a CoreLokt like I experienced with Hornady and Sierra's bullets. I usually have the deer knocked down and unconscious within seconds of the shot. I once shot a 300lb+ mule deer buck a little far back into the edge of his liver and just out of the rib cage on a running shot at 150 yds with a CoreLokt 165 out of a .300 savage. He tumbled and rolled down the steep slope for about 50 yds. He was now in heavy cover and stood up and then went down. I couldn't believe that he didn't try to move off with what I considered a marginal shot. The bullet was lodged in his off hip and about double sized in mushroom. I felt bad that I was so far back on that shot but he was leaping 40'and I put the cross hairs on his head. Time of flight was only .23 seconds so that buck was really hauling down that slope for me to hit him so far back. I should have led him a little more than putting the x on his nose. In the mountains of the North Cascades our shots can be close to 600yds so these bullets have worked for me all these yrs. I have shot over 600yds using the Shepherd scope and hit one mule deer twice and both hits were within a few inches of each other. I only recovered one bullet. At that range it lost almost half its weight at 97 grs but completely penetrated the front legs right knee and plowed through the sternum and landed in the left front legs knee. Shot was too low to enter the chest so when he stood up with his remaining good front leg, I shot him again and hit him 2 inches higher. He was down for good with that shot and I never recovered that bullet. A good CoreLokt 180 at 2700fps from my '06 Remington 700 bld with a 24 inch barrel. With the CoreLokt in the .300 savage I once shot a mule deer buck(3x3)through the head at 300 yards and the bullet was never recovered. On a simi

I didn't clarify some ...

I didn't clarify some things in my last review. In my first review, I said that the Core-Lokt 180gr. bullet shot about 1-1/4 in my Ruger. It did but I have since replaced the factory trigger with a Timney, and it shoots about 7/8" now. It does duplicate the Nosler out to about 350 yds, and I also use it in my 300 Win Mag, at about 2950fps. I have not lost a deer with this bullet when it was placed properly. Neither have the two people who shoot it in my reloads. I can recommend it and the Timney trigger as two of the best accuracy enhancements one can make to a Ruger MK II. The Nosler 180 is my second choice, but the Remington does the job as well, and less expensively.

Inexpensive soft point ...

Inexpensive soft point bullets, accurate and reliable. I buy in bulk and use for military rifle open-sight silhouette shooting. It works well out to the 500 meter limit and knocks down the steel targets better than 150 grain bullets. I have not used it for hunting yet.

Review from 9/10/2001: I have been shooting this product in both the 30-06 and the 300 Win Mag. It consistently produces 1 and 1/4 inch groups in both rifles. In the 300 win, it produces 100 yard groups of 3/4 in. consistently. I have fired it in a Ruger rifle in 30-06 at distances up to 600 meters using a drop compensated Shepherd scope and found it to shoot to point of impact for their reticle system. I have killed crows with it at distances of 200 to 225 yards in the 300. I have shot deer with it at a distance of 125 yards and gotten penetration through both shoulders in the 30-06. I have used the 8mm version of this product and killed a very large bodied mule deer just last year in Colorado (6X7) and the bullet impacted front left shoulder, passed through the chest and lodged under the skin of the lower right rib cage area. 85% weight retention and the shot was under 30 yards with an 8mm 06 Improved. Mv of 2900 or there abouts. Very good bullets and very good design.This is my second follow-up on the Core-lokt bullet. I have now put about 1500 of these down range in the 180gr. weight. They are consistently accurate. In all three of my 30-06's they will shoot 1" or better. They shoot flat, and match a Shepherd scope at 2700fps and give pass-through results at distances of over 400yds. (I haven't recovered a bullet yet from any of the deer I've shot) and shots placed in the chest put the animal down quickly. Exit wounds through the rib cage are usually quarter sized and allow a good blood trail, which I haven't needed yet. I've loaded these bullets for four other shooters in 30-06, and they have gotten the same results. It's a good bullet and it performs very very well.

This is my pet load for 30.06VERY CONSISTENT AND ACCURATE.The only thing I wonder about is the expansion- seems like I never see an exit hole any bigger than the entrance hole on deer, but it gets em on the ground in short order.
