For a smooth bore barrel I recommend an Improved cylinder choke. For the money these slugs are extremely hard to beat. Great shooting, have shot groups of 5 at 50 from a smoothbore with all rounds touching, recoil is what you would expect for 12ga slug. Have seen many, many deer fall to these slugs at ranges from 10-120 yards. Put the round where it needs to be and these will take care of the rest. Run great thru fully rifled barrels as well, but don't recommend it as they will lead the rifling up quickly.

I bought this to plink with. The price makes it affordable and the performance isn't bad either. I can shoot an easy 6" group at 50yds offhand. It cycles my M4 just fine. Recoil is plenty managable. I'm not sure I'd hunt with this ammo but that's not what I use it for anyway. I think there are better choices out there for that. I'd buy more. A case seem like a lot untill you really start having fun, then it's gone before you know it.

I shoot these out of my Maverick 88 12 gauge with 18.5" barrel. They are suprisingly accurate at 100 yards. The only downfall, as with all heavy 12ga shells is the recoil. I shot 10 of these within 2 min and that was all I could take. These have just about as much knock down power as anyone could possibly need.

These are great slugs. The accuracy is about 3 inches at 50 yards and the recoil isn't as bad as the Federals or Winchesters. One thing that I especially noticed is that the muzzle flash is significantly lower than most other brands so I would definitely choose these for home defense.

Got my first buck with ...

Got my first buck with these Saturday. I shoot them through a Mossberg 590A1 and they basically shoot to point of aim as far as I can shoot off hand in the real world. 50 yard shot hit the buck in the lower third of the chest. Heart shredded. He went less than 30 feet. It doesn't get much better than that.

By far more accurate at 50 yds than Buckhammer and Federal rifled slug through a rifled choke tube. I will keep buying this product.

I used these in my Remington 870 Express with a modified choke tube although Remington suggests an IC choke for "BEST" results. At 80 yards, I was able to get 3-4" sized 5-round groups. Your gun's performance may differ, after all...everyone's gun is different. I would definitely use this as a short / mid range hog hunting round or even for home protection. And as far as recoil, I personally don't find it to be any worse than a regular 12 gauge shell. If you can handle 00-buckshot, this ammo shouldn't bother you, but investing in a recoil pad wouldn't be a bad idea.The only thing I am not crazy about is that these slugs will likely leave a decent amount of residue in your bore, but if you maintain your firearms well, no problem.Hope this helps. Used this ammo in a Mossberg 500 Maverick smooth bore with full bore choke. Harvested my largest buck to datea 24-3/4 outside spread 12 point taken at an estimated 115 yards. 4 stars due to a fractured slug found in 2 pieces inside the buck.

These can't be beat for the money if they shoot well for you. My Ithaca cuts holes with them at 50 yards, and deer shot well with them don't go far. I've shot deer with them from 30 yards out to a little over 100 yards, and they've always worked.

Using a Mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel and iron sights, I dropped a deer with a neck shot at 117 yards with this slug. And yes, that was where I was aiming. I experimented with many other brands and types but always came back to this. All I know is that this is the best for my gun.
