Lee Precision has been making high quality reloading equipment for over 50 years. The Lead Dipper is one of those products that makes bullet casting so much easier. This ladle is the perfect size for casing bullets. The ladle holds enough lead that the molten metal stays hot enough molds will produce great bullets and the caster will not get fatigued. The ladle is also great for stirring metal alloy and skimming dross from the surface of the lead pot.

I only use this for 38 spl, 158 gr double cavity mold and it works great for me. I can see where it might be too small for larger caliber or heavier bullets, but for me it is just the right size. I have used this ladle for many years now and have no complaints.

The ladle works, but it is very cheesy. The steel is very thin and prone to bending. A person would almost be better off using an old teaspoon with a wood handle. I use mine for skimming off slag from the surface of the molten lead. Lee makes many good products, but this is not really one of them.

Unimpressed from the start. While trying to get the dipper out of its packaging, the metal bent before the plastic gave way. Also, it's extremely small and does not hold enough capacity for multi-cavity molds. However, at less than 5 bucks, I guess I cant expect something of much better quality.

I gave this three stars as it's not useful for pouring large bullets. I do like this for fluxing and skimming, which is something the bigger ladles can't do.

Ok for stirring and ...

Ok for stirring and skimming but nearly useless for actually ladle casting bullets. Nearly all my reloading and casting equipment is LEE and this is the only thing I have not been completely happy with. For the price this dipper beats using a spoon.

This is way too small to be very useful. The lead chills too much, too soon, and it does not hold enough metal for multi-cavity molds. An old spoon is just about as good, but neither is useful as a metal ladle.

Don't understand the negative comments....use this mostly for processing wheel weights into ingots, great for that, adding flux, skimming clips and trash off the top of the melt. Have other tools for filling molds. Highly recommended

It's a glorified kitchen ...

It's a glorified kitchen spoon with a wooden handle, and barely enough volume for anything. One use and I had ordered a Lyman ladle with an actual spout. I love Lee products for getting you what you need at the most affordable cost, but this doesn't fit the bill for anything other than small single shot moulds.

It's basically a stamped steel spoon. The only thing that makes it a 'ladle' are the two spout lips that are stamped into it. Ironically, those make it hard to use as a skimmer and it doesn't hold enough metal to fill both bullets of large two cavity molds. It's certainly cheap enough, but the Lyman bullet ladle is a much better tool even at 5X the price. Skip this and get a big soup spoon instead.

Hard to beat for the ...

Hard to beat for the price. The dipper works well for skimming dross from the melt pot. The handle stays cool and it's light weight. The stamped steel ladle is plenty strong enough for any reasonable use. It probably wouldn't tolerate a lot of prying but who would do that with a dipper?
