I had planned on getting one of these for my Ruger 10/22 Carbine since I purchased the rifle but always seemed to spend the money on something else. Comparing the trigger on my rifle to the trigger on a friend's who had this nifty piece installed made me a believer and I had one shortly. It does require you to disassemble the trigger group of your rifle. This is not difficult, but can be tedious, esp if it is your first time. I recommend you have a clear table or work area and 1/2 hour or so of quite time to install. I am not a gunsmith but my brother and I were able to install it with little difficulty and these provisions.Before the unit was installed in my rifle, the rifle could be cleared, cocked, taken off safe, and held with the entire weight of the rifle and a 3-9 Tasco supported only by the trigger on your finger. You could even bounce it somewhat without the trigger breaking. I would estimate trigger weight before this hammer was installed to be a gritty 6 pounds or so. Now it is a crisp 2 pounds or so with the slightest hint of creep and absolutely no overtravel. It was such a difference that my shooting suffered initially just because I had to get used to it! The 1/2 hour of your time it takes to install this product is well worth it. My only regret was that I didn't cough up the dough sooner. As expressed above, this is certainly the best first modifcation you can make for your 10/22, and if I were limited to only one, this would be it.

I have to give this product a mixed recommendation. Yes, it does lighten the trigger pull, as advertised to approx 2.5#. Also, despite a complete lack of directions, it is easy to install so long as you are competent enough to dissassemble and reassemble the trigger unit (four pins). My biggest gripe with this hammer is that finish was extremely poor outside of the engagement area. Particularly, the radiused surface at the bottom of the hammer retained flashing from manufacture right up to the edge of the sear engagement notch. Without getting into specifics, if you are confident that you understand the operation of this component, you will have to perform some surfacing and polishing OUTSIDE the engagement area in order to get a consistent smooth pull.

This is one great hammer kit. after installing this kit my trigger pull went from 6 lbs to 2 3/4 lbs i installed all parts that came in this kit. The pull is smooth with very little travel This gun is used for hunting and target shooting weekly. I shot over 500 rounds with no miss fires. I cant find anything wrong with this kit. If you have a 10/22 you need this kit! OH delivery was fast!

Better than factory, but...

If I were to compare the trigger pull that results from the installation of this kit with just the factory 10/22 trigger, perhaps the Volquartsen kit would warrant five stars. It's much lighter. But, compared with a trigger job that's available for the same price from several 10/22 specialists who advertise on the internet, it's not even close. The VQ hammer kit results in a trigger that still has quite a bit of creep. The custom job yields a trigger that breaks as crisply as an icicle. I know. I have both.

Great trigger but it needed little help

I had a problem with the trigger resetting so I stretched the return spring a little and solved the problem.
Otherwise, night and day difference over factory trigger. I polished the internals and brought it down to smooth 1.5 lb or so. Great for bench shooting, my groups are 1 ragged hole with a heavy barrel and a bipod

I was not sure if this trigger kit would do what the reviews said they would do. Guess what , this is a great trigger kit. Easy to install and my trigger pull dropped from 51/2 lbs to 2 1/2 lbs. During rapid fire i had no miss fires or jams. I would highly advise you to get this kit.

Ok installation not all that hard. ONE big problem!!! Turned my 7lbs trigger on a semi auto into a 2.5 lb single shot!!! After a little web research, put Factory trigger sping back in. Now I have a trigger just shy of 3lbs but a semi auto again.Still a little creepy but way better than factory. Also NOTE, all calls to the Volquartsen went unreturned.

Put this in a 10/22 for a soldier friend who is on the way home to spruce up the old beater 10/22 he got before he left for Afgh.This thing is perfect, easy enough to install in 20 minutes in my living room floor w/ a flat head screw driver and a few punches. Brought a 7+ lb creeping pull down to a 2 - 3 lb smooth beautiful trigger, the rifle is a pleasure to shoot and this was a great step to accurize the rifle, as it immediately reduced group sizes.I recommend this highly for every 10/22 especially the older ones. The bolt release is a great addition as well, since it makes the 10/22 simply release the bolt by pulling it back to the rear and releasing it.
