Shot a pig from about 50 ...

Shot a pig from about 50 yards. Hit her in the right rear ham, my fault she was running, punched through and we found the bullet under the skin on the left side. Perfect expansion on the bullet even after breaking the "ham bone". The bullet looked like it came out of test gelatin.

I had a Marlin rifle that couldn't group under 8" at 100yds with anything until I tried this. Magic! This is a very accurate load.

Bought two boxes to try ...

Bought two boxes to try out and shoot in my new Ruger K77/44. Well it only took 9 shots to get zeroed in. After that I was shooting 1.5" groups at 100 yards. Found a couple of rounds in the dirt bank behind the logs the range used for target holders, after going through 8 inches of wood the complete bullet was almost perfectly mushroomed. I will be ordering these to reload! In short, these are awesome!

My 44 mag NEF handi rifle loves the 240 XTP. Great groups and super performance on whitetails. I also use the 240 xtp in my muzzleloader and have taken many deer and it has expanded perfectly every time. This is a dependable , reliable , accurate bullet that is a great value. Aim small, miss small.

Very clean burning and ...

Very clean burning and accurate round in my 5 1/2" Redhawk. Recoil is not too bad. I did not have any problems ejecting empty brass either, like someone stated earlier. Have not used this round on game yet, but plan to take hog hunting as a backup to my .270. I'll post another review then . . .

My Colt Anaconda dropped ...

My Colt Anaconda dropped a wild boar in it's tracks with this load at 50 yards. The cartridge is very accurate and consistent, with moderate recoil.

Hornady's 240 gr. XTP load is the very best factory round in this weight class that I have tried. The bullet expands very reliably. Penetration is very good. This is some of the cleanest burning stuff out there. Very accurate and consistent ammo. One can't expect better.

After several trips to the range with my Model 94 Trapper w/Nikon 4X and various ammos, I'd determined that my gun liked Winchester Platinum Tips the best. That changed this morning! Wow! This ammo consistently shot 1 and 1.5" groups at 60 yards as compared to 2" groups with the Platinum Tips. 5-shot groups became one ragged hole that you could cover with a 50-cent piece. I don't necessarily need this type of accuracy for my brush-style hunting, but hey, why not hunt with the most accurate, cost effective ammo you can find? They are cheaper than Platinum Tips, Partition Gold and Federal Fusion!

My father and I bought ...

My father and I bought 1000rds of this. I shoot an 8.4" Anaconda & he shoots a Marlin 1894. On the Chrony this summer I was getting 1400 fps avg. Went hog hunting with my dad this Oct. We dropped 4 hogs that average 280 pounds. It performed well, all hogs were shot through the vitals dropped. They typically did one turn or 1/2 a turn and then fell over. I was able to recover two bullets. You could tell the difference between the rifle & pistol, the bullet from the rifle had more of a flatter mushroom as it expanded and mushroomed more than the one from the pistol. I think this was due to a higher velocity gained from the rifle. The one from my Anaconda went through the shoulder and lodged in the other shoulder. All shots from rifle & pistol were taken from 25 yards or less. The 240gr XTP did a good job. I'd like to see how they perform on whitetails next. I own a 74' Ruger 44Mag Carbine (1:38 twist & 18.5" barrel) and fired several rounds of this through it. My last 3 round group, I was able to get all three in a 1" group bench rested with Leupold 1.5-5VXIII scope. I decided to hog hunt with the pistol only.
