Unfortunately my first ...

Unfortunately my first negative review on MidwayUSA. This extended mag release really missed the mark for my XDM-45. The glaring problem was that magazines would drop out from the pistol at intermittent times during shooting. I used snap caps and was able to reproducibly make the mag drop out when the slide was racked. And no, it was not from either of my hands accidentally pushing the release. I made sure to keep them clear. I could not reproduce the problem after re-installing the factory release. Furthermore, upon visual inspection the ramps on the release are slightly different than the factory release. Also the bar-sto release I received had poor machining (etching) on the round end of the extended side. All things considered it did not work for my pistol. I ordered one from Springer Precision and it works much better.

This item is a must have ...

This item is a must have for any XD owner. It seemingly reduces the amount of pressure needed to release the magazine by 50%. Installation was a breeze after watching a video for it online. Installation time is less than 5 minutes. As an added bonus, it can be installed for right handed or left handed shooters. The reasons that I did not give this item a 5 star review are admittedly trivial. 1. I would prefer it to be black in color. 2. Since the release is machined, both ends of the release were VERY sharp. I simply took a Dremel tool and ground a slight 45 degree chamfer on both ends. 3. It's added length is so much so that it makes contact with my skin when carrying it. Other than those small issues, the item is pretty much perfect.

This mag release is so ...

This mag release is so much better than the factory button. Makes mag changes a snap! Very well made. Very solid. Extends quite a bit further. The silver color really stands out at night so I can see it. Installation was a bit tricky, but any good gun forum has complete install instructions. Nice item! Glad I bought it.
