If your gun uses .308 ...

If your gun uses .308 diameter bullets (read high-quality American made gun) then this die set will work excellently for you. If, however, you are like most of us and are reloading for an SKS, AK, CZ, or other foreign made gun or cheaper America made gun and are using .311 diameter bullets this die set will not work correctly unless you "special-order" die parts from Lee Precision to convert the neck size die to size for .311 bullets.

I verified the above reviewer's comments. These dies are for .308 bullets. If you order the larger mandrel from Lee, specify that this has to fit 7.62x39mm. They sent me the larger mandrel (for the 303 Brit) and I had to shorten it by about 3/4".The die did take a LOT of polishing to work smoothly, but is nice in that, when in use, the cases require no lube. It swages the mouths using a four-fingered crimping jaw. I found it to be priced fairly and in line with quality.

I use this die for ...

I use this die for loading ammo for my custom 7.62x39mm benchrest rifle with a .308" bore. As the other comments allude to this die gives more enough neck tension for loading .308 diameter projectiles. This die set has significantly increased my brass life, some of my cases are on the 7th firing with no signs of thinning. With this product the need to trim is also greatly reduced. Accuracy is also outstanding, this die set has produced ammunition that regularly shoots in the .2's Simply put there is no 7.62x39 die set made better suited for getting the most out of a non autoloading 7.62x39

THE LEE COLLET NECK SIZER DIE DOES THE SAME THING A BUSHING NECK DIE FROM THE HIGHER PRICED GUYS DOES AT A MODEST PRICE AND WITHOUT A BOXFULL OF ASSORTED BUSHINGS WHICH ADDS EVEN MORE TO THE PRICE OF THE BUSHING SYSTEM. THE LEE DIE IS EASY TO ADJUST AND HOLDS ADJUSTMENT PERFECTLY. IDEAL FOR CAST BULLET SHOOTERS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE CASTING YOUR OWN NON-STANDARD SIZED BULLETS.

Used this for loading 7.62x39 for my T/C Contender Pistol. Using a Weaver 2.5-8X scope, doing 1" 3shot group at 100yds fired off sandbags. Wind factor may have enlarged the group. Very pleased.
