I was pretty disappointed ...

I was pretty disappointed with the overall quality and design of this mount. I bought the mount to go on a 22lr AR and decided to spend the extra money for a made in USA mount to avoid the quality control issues with imported junk. Never in my life have I ever said to myself that I should have bought the mount made in China, but I actually did when I went to mount this on my rifle. To start, the ring cap screws fit so tight in the threads that I thought I was going to snap the heads off of them. Luckily, Weaver provided quality hardware so this didn't happen. I literally had to use both hands to tighten the screws down. The screws weren't cross threaded, I just don't think Weaver took into account the thickness of the anodizing when they tapped the holes. If I had the appropriate size tap I would have ran it through the holes to clean them up.Additionally, the quick release thumb screws are a poor design. I will replace these with standard hex or torx screws as soon as I can find suitable replacements.The only positive I really found in the mount is its light weight.

This mount works great on flat top AR-15's. It's a high quality mount for people who don't want or need picatinny rails on top of their scope rings. Some might like the quick detach "wing nut" style fasteners on this base, but I'll probably get some type of hex-head nut for my base so it can be torqued to the same setting any time it's reinstalled.

I used this to mount a Vortex Viper scope to my Colt MT6700 flattop. It is a very nice mount. It is well built and very solid. I compared it to the Burris mount and chose to go with the Weaver because it was about 0.1" lower than the Burris. This doesn't appear to be as "heavy duty" as the Burris, but I expect it to hold up just fine.
