Every aspect of this mount from its contruction to its application is perfect. It sits upon a 7.5 inch smith 41 barrel and is deadly in the squirrel woods.

I rate this mount as ...

I rate this mount as "Good" instead of "Excellent" for two reasons: 1) there is all that rail space, but only four cross slots. This really limits your options for optics like the Aimpoint Micro. Weigand, if you are reading this, put evenly spaced cross slots across the entire rail; 2) the screws supplied with the mount are from the old style mount with the countersunk holes. The screw heads stick up conspicuously on the new style mount. The new rail is nice because you can see the iron sights through the longitudinal channel, but the protruding screw heads get in the way. Again, Weigand, if you are reading this, switch to a low-profile fastener, preferably with a Torx head.
