Leatherwood Camputer ART (Automatic Ranging and Trajectory) scopes features fully adjustable cam systems which allows the shooter to place an extremely accurate shot. This scope is also easily calibrated to automatically compensate for bullet drop. Flip-up lens covers are provided separately in the box with the scope. The integral base features screws at different heights to provide maximum holding strength.

This is an excellent scope if you mount it on a larger caliber civilian rifle such as a 308, 30-06, 300 WM or a military 223, or M-14. The cam system is easy to figure out and accurate. The cam itself is somewhat bulky, so get rings one level higher than you normally would so you have clearance between the rifle. Mr. Leatherwood himself answered my technical on his website.

I bought this for a PTR-91 and mounting has been a problem. The scope base is 6"+ long and it and the rings cannot be altered. If the scope overhangs your rail any amount at the cam, it seems to magnify minor distortions of the base under the heavy spring pressure against the cam. This distortion may be why some have had the base loosen after cam use. The cam/zoom is stiff against this spring pressure but that is what keeps the system true under recoil. The optics are clear and bright but I have never looked through a $1000 Leopold or $2000 Swarovski. Overall quality is good for Chinese with a fair price. I have not had it to the range yet. The jury is still out on this design over a FFP ranging reticle scope.

First off the optics are very good. The eye relief is sub-par for me, it is heavy but I knew this before purchase. The ability to zoom out without moving the cam is a pain, also the mount has become loose more than once for me. They tell you not to tighten the mount over hand tight......good luck with that. All in all it is a $350 scope, with that in mind not bad over all.

I combined this scope with my new F&H FNAR 20-Inch Heavy Barrel .308 Semi-Auto Rifle. The Scope mounted easily on the FNAR's Rail, and has not loosened up (book said to only hand tighten it, and that's what I did) after I snugged them up after the first 20 shots out of the rifle. They have not loosened up since. The optics are nice and clear. The turrets adjust with a nice audible/physical click, and the 1/4 MOA adjustments (along with the scope's ability to set FIVE different zero's for different ammo and/or rifles) was the features that sold me on this design. Took my setup to the range and managed to get 1 MOA Groups at 100 yards on my first outing.

Just a comment on what others have said at the bottom of this page. It is not true that you can't zoom in at a close range. All you have to do is set the distance then uncouple the cam from the zoom and zoom it to your desired magnification. The owner of the company does it on a clip on youtube.

The computer dial is ...

The computer dial is extremely stiff, making ranging require way more physical effort than should be necessary. A 200 meter zero would be a more effective zero range than 250 meters. Mount became loose after firing 15 rounds of .308 but not supposed to tighten more than hand tight. Zero shifted approximately 1 MOA after 15 rounds and loosening of mount. Glass is decent; it picks up light good enough at dusk, but is difficult to focus at short ranges. Would not recommend as a tactical optic. OK buy for hunting non-dangerous game if weight is not a concern.

I'm new to long distance shooting. Rather than buy a rangefinder, I decided to try out this scope. Once you get it properly adjusted and tweaked for the round you shoot, it performed pretty much as it was supposed to. You're able to hit your target at various ranges just by dialing in the range. After I became used to estimating range on my own, I really didn't like the fact that the zoom is slaved to the range. In other words, you can't zoom in without adjusting the offset for the bullet drop at that range. So while it is probably an excellent scope for hunting, where you need to make fast changes in order to make the shot, it's not very useful for target shooting at known distances, where you may want to zoom in for a more accurate shot. I would recommend to any new shooter that will be shooting unknown distance. Which is what the US Army Sniper school used this scope for in the first place.

Having been introduced to a Leatherwood scope during my tour as a sniper in Vietnam, I can attest to the accuracy of this scope. I have one mounted on my Colt H-BAR AR-15 and tight groups are the norm. Highly recommend.

I bought the scope on the recommendation of a friend who has one too. It was a simple installation on my 30-06 model 70 and best of all, easy to zero in at the range. I went on my first boar hunt and made a 350 yard shot on the money. BANG flop. Super optics, it took the guess work out completely.
