Crimson Trace Lasergrips provide a pinpoint accurate laser each time you naturally grip the firearm, no fumbling for switches or buttons. Installation can be done in a matter of minutes because Crimson Trace Lasergrips install exactly like factory grips. In the front activation models, Instant activation occurs due to pressure applied by your fingers to the switch located on the forward side of the grip. Rear activation models activate instantaneously due to pressure applied by the palm of your strong hand to the rearward side of the laser grip. Equipped with a master On/Off switch, Crimson Trace Laser Grips save battery and allows use of the firearm without laser. Lasergrips produce a 1/2" dot at 50 feet and are a class IIIa Diode Laser (Non-hazardous to eyes under momentary exposure). The included batteries have a five year shelf life and have a four hour in use life.

Crimson Trace also extends one free set of batteries a year for life when you register you Crimson Trace product on the manufacturers website.

I have CTC LaserGrips on ...

I have CTC LaserGrips on my full-size SA 1911, Ultra Compact 1911, and SIG P220. Very easy to adjust to selected point of aim. Front switch allows use of a Surefire Weaponlight with the DL switch (pressing the DL switch activates both the Surefire & laser). Well-made, reliable and easy to install. If you have an ambi safety, you have to grind down the right side safety or buy an Ed Brown safety that is pre-cut. A small price to pay for the extra security that comes from having a back-up target designation system.

I was able to install my ...

I was able to install my Crimson Trace on a Kimber Custom II in less than ten minutes and it works perfectly. There wasn't even a need to adjust the laser alignment because the laser already aligned with the gun sight perfectly. What I like about it is that it looks like factory installed. The laser comes on naturally as you middle finger closes on the grip (this one is the front-activated model) and it aims naturally to wherever you point. You don't feel any additional bulk or weight under the dust cover like many other aftermarket lasers. It provides an extra edge in emergency situations and definitely worth every penny.

Installation on a stock ...

Installation on a stock Colt LW Commander was straight forward, with no surprises. Construction looks like it will stand the punishment of full power loads without issue. In as much as this weapon is intended for close-in defense, I registered using a laser bore sight at 25' rather than matching the iron sights. Out of the box the CTC grips were less than 1/2" off the bore. Position of the laser allows for blocking the light without need to release grip pressure, if so desired. Rated a 4.0

You asked about my feeling about the Crimson Trace grip for a 1911. I have had it for only a few months, and haven't used it a lot, but am very pleased with it. I am at the age where conventional sights aren't as sharp as they used to be, especially if there is a white-outline or a dot night-sight feature. The Crimson Trace allows me to have a crisp, solid black sight for full daylight, when the laser isn't effective, but when light levels are low enough for conventional sights to be difficult, the laser comes into its own. In low light the laser reaches a lot farther than a .45 acp. Groups with the laser are at least as tight, maybe a little tighter, than the sights, on overcast days. I outfit wilderness whitewater trips on the Salmon River, lasting a week, camping each night. As soon as a Crimson Trace grip is available for a Super Redhawk, I will buy one, with the intention of having something for a bear in camp in the night. The .45 acp isn't enough cartridge for that job. I am also watching for a laser sight that will fit on a shotgun. I showed it to a friend who is retired chief of enforcement for Idaho Fish and Game Department, and I believe he will soon be ordering one. Shortly after I got the grip, it began to be difficult to turn on. I suspect it might have been because I over-lubed a new gun, or got solvent into the system. I called Crimson Trace about it. They said the unit was a new design and to send it back. I had a replacement in hand in about the time that I thought it would take the Post Office to deliver it to them--no questions asked. Can't beat that kind of service. They are expensive, but I do not regret the expenditure. I appreciate the chance to comment.
