You have to use Burris Z ...

You have to use Burris Z Rings on this base. Regular Weaver style rings will not fit as they are to wide. You can get them to fit by milling approximately .060" off one side of the ring, or you can mill the raised part of the base and attachment screws even with the rest of the base, as I did, as I often switch scopes on my Ruger 77/22. Best way to go is buy Burris Zee Rings when you buy the base. The base is also a little hard to mount straight on a 77/22. Best bet is to attach the scope to the base and then attach the base to the gun and then loosen the scope rings and adjust the eye relief to your fit.

It works (on a 77/22) but ...

It works (on a 77/22) but requires some adjusting. The two clamping claws are both floating, and they both have their own torque screw, so you actually have to loosen one, tighten the other, and then vice versa to get them centered perfectly. Because of this I would recommend attaching the rings first, and then mount the base with alignment bars in the rings. The claws also bow upward somewhat. I feel this could have been made better but like I said it works. The weaver slots are about 0.65 inches from the center so it might give you a little extra help with shorter eye relief for some scopes. This cannot be mounted on the rear most receiver groove on a 77/22 because the two piece bolt has considerable slop, and the very close dimensions will cause you to constantly knock your bolt arm against the edge of the weaver base. If you are very slow and meticulous I suppose you could, but it would not be practical at all.Burris Zee rings clamp onto these just fine but require more tightening than Zee rings on maxima bases. Something to consider if you are going to repeatedly add/remove this style of rings--you might fatigue the very thin metal metal on the knotch of the zee rings.

I am very pleased with ...

I am very pleased with this product. The only problem I had was the fact that most Weaver style rings won't work with the adapter, I ended using Millet Angle-Loc dual extension rings to get the scope where wanted, on a Ruger #1 rifle.

I had to add, that I originally bought this adapter for a Redhawk. I found out that it won't work on a Redhawk, the rear ring dovetail is too close to the frame

Will not accept Weaver ...

Will not accept Weaver double clamp rings. Approx 1/8" interference. I ground rings to fit and painted to match. Results acceptable and fully functional.
