The SOG Flash II Folder is a wicked cool pocket knife. The Flash II utilizes SOG's S.A.T. blade deployment system that springs the blade into action quickly when you need it. The S.A.T. also features a powerful piston lock that is super strong, but is also easy to release when you are ready to fold the knife up. The Flash II also features a built in safety to prevent any accidental blade deployment.

The SOG Flash II features an AUS 8 Stainless Steel blade with SOG's unique Cryogenic Heat Treatment that makes the blade super tough and increased edge retention. The Anodized Aluminum or GRN Polymer handles feel extraordinary in your hand and look cool as well. Knife opens with a small flick of the thumb stud. The blade lock works well but for the life of me I don't know why they put a safety lock on a knife you might want to rely on for defense. It locks the blade closed tight and the small lever to unlock it is not easy to operate. The spring assist holds the blade closed until you push on the thumb stud so the blade won't open by itself in you're pocket. Overall a nice, light, sharp and very fast to open knife. Would be a five star except for the safety lock.

The clip is reversible, but if you do reverse it, the "safety lock" is extremely difficult to release. Not a good thing on a "tactical" (Self defense) knife I ended up having to block mine into the unlocked position after it accidentally got put "on safe" in my pocket a few times.Also, on the first one I bought, the blade would not hold an edge, so I contacted SOG and returned it to them. They hardness tested the blade and said it was out of spec, so they replaced it. I was hoping the new "in spec" blade would hold an edge. I have been sorely disappointed. Even cutting a couple of pieces of cellophane tape will dull mine. I will not be wasting my money on any other SOG knives and I suggest you look elsewhere if you like to keep your knife sharp, even through light duty uses.

Can't switch clip but works ever well either handed...I have knifes made by other top brands the do not work aswell as this knife. Opens & closes great both left & right handed.

I have one of these knives with the smooth blade. When this one, with the tanto blade, went on sale, I bought it. The blade is very sharp, and the assisted opening action seems even more brisk than the smooth blade version I own. I don't think a true full auto switchblade could open any faster. Overall, it ought to do me for long time.

I have had mine for about 3 years now and has been deployed as a daily carry. I think over time it has gotten better. The action is still smooth and fast. The edge is real easy to keep sharp and I use it for everything except prying or as a screwdriver. (That's what the Leatherman is for) I am looking at buying another one just for a backup. As far as the lock, I don't use it. I want it to open fast when I need it most.

Great knife. Lightweight but strong, nice finish, opens really fast and smooth, i carry this to work never lets me down, love the low profile pocket clip, i used to like liner locks, was not sure about the button but its right at my finger tips making a fast close and quick concealment

This is the best pocketknife I have ever had. I got if from my brother because he didn't like the way it handled. I love it, it holds a good edge, it deploys quick, and fits in a pocket easy. I carry it everywhere.

I use this as my EDC and have for about 6 months. Love the size & durability. My wife's uncle said "Who carries a knife that big?" I DO!I did have the knife open up in my pocket (cut myself) so those who lambaste the knife because it has a safety should realize it might/can/will open in your pocket. If you don't like the safety, glue it and make it useless... but I'll probably use the safety and become skilled at opening the knife with the safety engaged. It remains in my pocket. Try it, you'll like it!

Purchased this knife as an every day carry defense knife with the possibility of doing duty peel an apple or someother daily task. The knife is well made, locks up tight, and features excellent non-slip grip. The blade quick opening and is excellent design and is the folding knife I will carry for defense. I purchased two other variations of the SOG knives as personal defense weapons for family members. Yes, I would recommend this knife to a friend.

I have carried this knife almost everyday for the last year and a half and I'm very happy with it. A few swipes through my Gerber diamond knife sharpener once in a while and the blade will cut through just about anything you need it to, especiaally with the serrated part of the blade. The zytel handle feels great and when clipped to my pants pocket you barely know it's there. The safety is no problem because I don't use it. The Arc-Articulator lock is all you need. It opens very fast with a flick of your thumb and locks. I like it so much I'm buying the Trident folding knife for my daughter with the slot feature because she cuts a lot of string and twine on the farm she works at. I also like the tiger stripes on the blade because I think they look cool.
