The Lyman Lube Sizer Heater was designed for today's high temperature lubes. It heats the Lube Sizer to the right temperature allowing smooth, effortless bullet lubrication. This plate is bolted beneath the sizer and is drilled and tapped for Lyman 450 (not 4500), RCBS, SAECO and Star Lube Sizers. Mounting hardware included.

Technical Information:

Fits: Lyman 450, RCBS, Saeco, and Star lube sizes.
Function: Heating element to heat up lube sizers to allow for smooth and effortless bullet lubrication
Notes:

Rated by Lyman for 115 volts but is perfectly safe for 110 volt outlets

Does not have heat control

With a 30 to 40 min preheat this heater makes the hardest lubes flow with less effort than cold Alox. It needed a rheostat or thermostat to cycle it so it wont get too warm and flow too easily. It's a little touchy until you get used to it and will squirt lube under the base of the bullet. You crank the pressure screw on the 450 less but more often to keep the pressure at the right amount for proper flow of lube. I will never use cold lube again. It's a wonderful product. I'm very pleased with it.

I use this on a star lubri-sizer and it works great. I used to use small light bulbs but with the new harder lubes,they did not work very well. This heater works no matter how hard or how cold the lube or room is. Once the lubricator is hot you need to unplug it or it will get too hot and the lube will leak out everywhere. You can make your own "dimmer" switch to control the heat or you can use something like a router speed controller which should do the same thing. Great product at a very reasonable price. Hope it lasts a long time.

Great lube heater. The only thing I would change would be to add an on/off switch with a heat regulator (perhaps a dimmer type switch).

Got the base heater and ...

Got the base heater and it mounted perfectly for my star sizer. I then plugged it in and let it warm up for 10 minutes and it worked great. I had perfect lube on the bullets, this is a good product for getting the lube to flow.

Great product. I installed a box in line with the power cable and wired in a rheostat and toggle switch. The rheostat is great for long sessions when the lube can get too soft, and the switch is great because I hate plugging and unplugging things everytime I want to use them. Fits perfectly under my RCBS lube-a-matic.

Problem Solved: Place a 1 Amp diode in the hot lead with a switch to short the diode. Switch ON = full power, Switch OFF = Half Power. I've used this trick with a soldering iron for years.

I too, would have given it a 5-star rating if it had a thermostatic control to adjust the heat. I have two 450s, one old and one not-so-old. Both leak very badly from the bottom when the lube is heated. I epoxy'd a thin steel plate to the bottom to solve that. Then bolted the whole rig to the heater.I also did as mentioned in another post and rigged a dimmer switch on a home-made outlet box and the problem of temp-control was solved. Now, when I feel the 450 getting warm I move the control to "half-power" and seldom need adjusting thereafter.I guess the manufacturers don't use their own products.You'd think that after about 100 years these subjects wouldn't have to be addressed by the customers.

Fits perfectly under my 40 year old Lyman 450. I would have given this 5 stars if it had a thermostat control. But then it would have cost more. I plug the heater into an extension cord with a box outlet rigged with a common rotary light dimmer from Home Depot to control the heat. Not hard to make if you are handy with electrical wiring. It takes about 40 minutes to heat and then a little adjustment with the dimmer to maintain proper heat. It works great.

Mine is the earlier model with the adjustable heat control and it has worked perfectly for many years. Sure beats using those sticky, soft cold lubes!Was made/marketed by Midway originally, not Lyman.

I used this on the first generation RCBS lubri-sizer. It took a while to get all the sticky grease out but once that happened it worked well. Harder lubes are better to use on bullets when you have to handle them loading. These lubes don't make a mess of your dies making this a must. As stated there is no temp control so you must get used to how easily it makes the lube flow when it gets good and hot. I find myself unplugging it for a few minutes sometimes to cool it down as the lube can get so hot as to flow around seals. For a sizer that does not have a heater this can't be beat. It is drilled to fit any sizer.

Works well in conjunction with my RCBS LAMII. Doesn't take too long to heat up. I don't like the way the wires come out of the heater, it looks like there should be additional reinforcement there.
