Speer's Hot-Cor Semi-Spitzers have a modified nose for enhanced medium range shooting and are offered for cartridges where the loaded cartridge length is critical. These bullets also feature Speer's special Hot-Cor construction which eliminates the lead oxide layer that's found between the core and jacket of conventional "cold core" bullets, virtually eliminating jacket slippage. This translates into a bullet that offers the deeper penetration and greater expansion needed for taking larger game. This is not loaded ammunition.

This is an excellent deer ...

This is an excellent deer bullet in my .38-72 WCF which is a re-barreled Browning Model 1895 lever action. My rifle has a .375" groove diameter. It is also fitted with a Providence Tool Co. receiver sight (a near-copy of the old Lyman # 21 sight). My 3-shot 100 yard groups range from 3/4" to 1 1/4" when I do my part using all reasonable loads of Varget or Reloder-15 powder. My best load with this bullet chronographs 2,504 fps with no excessive pressure indications. I used this combination in November 2010 for a broadside chest shot on a whitetail buck at 30 yards. The remains of the heart were merely pieces inside the chest cavity. The entry hole was caliber-size and the exit hole was 1 1/2". I'd certainly recommend this bullet as being very deadly on whitetail deer with loads that range from 2,000-2,500 fps.

I needed a bullet to use on whitetail deer this season so I loaded these with R-15 got around 2750 fps. They say these were designed for deer sized game and after using them I must agree! Drops deer better than ANY rifle I have ever used! And hardly ANY damage to edible meat!! I cant believe the performance and It's also one of the most least expensive bullets you can buy for this caliber!! Im sold!!!!

I have used varying types and weights of 375 bullets, and my choice is this bullet. Loading it down between 5-10% from max it holds together very well, recoil is not significant, and they expand extremely well. I'd highly recommend it for all North American game. I've used it for Moose, Elk and Deer and found that it doesn't over penetrate, is great for quartering shots, and doesn't cause excessive damage to the game. Again, this is a great bullet and I will continue to use it for all my hunting.

Very accurate in my .375 H&H (1/2" 5-shot groups @ 100 yards). Absolutely superb on whitetails. Have taken deer to 312 yards, never needing a second shot, nor did the animals take more than a step after receiving the bullet.Bullet construction is too light (IMHO) for elk and larger, but for deer/antelope/light plains game, it's a tough bullet to beat.I would have given the bullet five stars, but have had a couple over the years where the core parted company with the jacket while going through the animal. A hot/bonded core bullet should NOT do this! Very, very good bullet, but not 100% perfect.

Great bullets for shooting a smaller game with a .375. Also, they make excellent plinker loads at about 1500 fps or so. See the Speer Load Book for all the possibilities.

Pros: Preliminary testing ...

Pros: Preliminary testing shows very promising results in the accuracy department. H4895, Winchester LRM primers, new Remington brass yielded 3 shot nickel sized group off a make shift (Jacket rolled up on the hood of the truck) rest at 50 yds out of a 26" magna-ported barrel. Further testing will be required for load adjustment but looks like an excellent starting point for this bullet. Cons: Bullet weights varied considerably as did over all length. Had to sort bullets by weight which was +/- 3grs in variance. Only reason why this is not a 5 star product.
