Great item. Have 1 preban ...

Great item. Have 1 preban and 1 recent purchase. Used 1st for thousands of rounds, sometimes in dusty, sandy conditions and always with cheap ammo. It has only recently begun to cause my 10-22 to hang up. Better ammo and better care would have kept this mag flawless. But I'm not complaining! When you throw a mag around in the dirt eventually even the best will quit working.

First, it works reasonably well. There are a few misfeeds, but I assumed there would be. I have a couple new "Hot Lips" and a pre-ban Steel Lips unit.The poor rating is because of the cheap quality of the construction. In the case of the Steel Lips model, a big chunk of the part that goes into the stock broke off during normal use, the very first time I used it. I epoxied it back together with no subsequent problems. On the two new models, the plastic case just in front of the red feed mechanism was damaged, again during the first use. It looks like a lot of small cracks on the top, front edge.These magazines are well designed, but are cheaply constructed of inferior (if not to say brittle) materials.

Pulled it out of the box, loaded it up. Shot okay at first. The more I used it, the worse it got. The bullets kept getting jammed more and more and the spring was catching very badly. It did not fit in my brand new ruger 10/22 very well and overall was a piece of trash. DO NOT BUY THIS.

I bought 2 of these and have not been able to fire a full magazine without every round jamming. Terrible Save your money!!!!!!

I was just reading the reviews and found it interesting reading what other shooters have said about these magazines. I have several; they're all I use. A couple of them are probably 15 years old or more, and still work perfectly. Don't let the plastic lips scare you, these magazines are reliable! I have found that a small application of graphite does seem to help the break in process, as another shooter has recommended. Other than that, I have done little or no maintenance on these; they haven't needed it! They continue to work, even when left fully loaded for an extended period. I shoot mostly bulk packed Remington and Federal hps, bought at Wal-Mart. NEVER HAVE HAD A PROBLEM. You can't go wrong with these mags!

Bought hot lips yesterday to run a box of 333 through. Got frustrated after having jams (misfeeds) on just about every other bullet. I went through 200 bullets before saying the heck with it. I'm taking it back today. May switch to the steel lips to see if it is any more reliable.

Unreliable feeding, one or two jams per fill. May get better with time, probably not. Don't waste your money, get the steel lip version.

I've got three of these and the speedloader. We headed out to a farm today to shoot and I had 50% failures. None with the 10rd factory mags. This is the second or third time I've used these hi-capacity mags and it always the same. $$ wasted.

I bought two of these mags. One worked fine and the other had feeding problems. Returned it and the replacement did the same thing. After some use, the previously good mag started jamming. Returned both and I'm currently looking for a better product.

Initially, I found this product to be 4 stars, mis-feeding only when pressure was put on the clip. After shooting 1000 rounds, the plastic lips have become worn and lost their shape. I am constantly pulling unspent rounds out of the receiver, because they have mis-fed. Steel lips should have been my first purchase.

I have NEVER seen a better 10/22 magazine BAR NONE!!!! I shoot pallets of ammo every year to hunt prairie dogs, and I've killed literally thousands of these critters in my life time. I've even used legal 22 machine guns to hunt with, and I've never had a more reliable magazine. I usually buy the smoke magazine with the red hot-lips from Butler creek, and it is simply amazing how reliable and long lasting these magazines are!!! I can't express enough the long lasting reliability of these magazine, after thousands and thousands of rounds. My magazines have lasted longer than one of my 10/22s!! Of course I own about a dozen of these magazines so that spreads the wear around, but PLEASE! Even then, I'd venture to bet that each magazine has had more than 10,000 shots through it per magazine.
