The Possum Hollow Bore Guides are the easiest and safest way to preserve the accuracy of your bolt action rifle is to clean your rifle from the breech/chamber end using a Bore Guide. Possum Hollow Bore Guides protect the chamber and bore of your rifle by guiding the cleaning rod through the barrel. A special o-ring seal prevents solvent or oil from seeping into the action and trigger mechanism. For optimum performance, add an optional solvent port (sold separately). Solvent Ports fit into the end of the Bore Guide to ease solvent application and end messy spills.

Works perfect

Was a little nervous ordering this as I had read many reviews online saying the guide wouldn't fit well or wouldn't keep the rod from contacing the extractor, etc.. The guide arrived today and the fit is perfect in my CZ 452 trainer. The guide slides in smoothly and snugly and there is absolutely zero contact between my cleaning rod and the extractor. I'm extremely happy I bought this.

I bought this for my CZ 455 .22 and hoped it would fit, which is does. Just need to remove the clip first and hold down the bolt release while inserting it. I liked the one I had for my Ruger 77/17.

I have several of these bore guides (when still made by Sinclair) for Anschutz, Weatherby, Remington, Savage, Winchester, and have been very happy with performance. However, this guide presented the same problems for me that others had. It doesn't line up straight with the bore and thus my Tipton carbon fiber rod was damaged (heavily scraped).

It works on the American. I had a little trouble with the rod hitting the extractor on my varmint. Pushing the rod down form the handle at the beginning a little corrected the problem.

The guide fits into the ...

The guide fits into the rifle fine. The problem is when you put your rod through to where the cut-out begins. The rod (Tipton 1 piece 17-20 cal 36"..outstanding rod btw.. gun is CZ 452 Lux) is off center or gets pushed off center after it passes the cut out before it enters the barrel. I had to put my fingers into the magazine well to align it. I eventually just pulled out the guide and ran the rod without it. I can see where its possible a .22+ cal rod could get scraped per reviews of the .22cal rods fitting in the CZ 452's, however, with the .17-20 cal rod, I didnt have this problem and operated fine without the bore guide. Save the money and buy patches.

I owe Possum Hollow and Midway an apology - It turns out I was trying to use this guide rod on a CZ 452 'American' and it did not fit. When I tried it on my CZ 452 Lux, it worked just fine. I'm not sure why there would be a difference in the size of the receivers between those two rifles, but there is and this guide rod worked very well in one of them. The 452 'American' is several years newer than the Lux and that could explain the difference in size.

I also thought maybe this item had been redesigned, so I ordered it despite the low ratings. My experience was even worse than the previous raters - I couldn't even get the guide all the way into the receiver to even try putting a cleaning rod through it. It apparently has a significantly larger diameter than my bolt, because it wouldn't even go half way into place. It's a great concept, too bad it doesn't fit.

I ordered this product for my .22 long rifle CZ 452 Ultra Lux after reading the previous reviews. I thought that they may have redesigned the product since these reviews were made. I can now say that the other reviews are still accurate and this item should be avoided. I can't see any way that this guide can be modified to work. The problem is with CZ's chamber design. If you own this rifle, take a look straight down the bore from the breach end and you'll see what I mean. It is tricky to start the rod without the guide and impossible to start it with the guide without at least damaging the rod. That said, I own several other Possum Hollow bore guides and am very happy with them.

The rod does not perform ...

The rod does not perform as expected. After entering the cut-out the rod does not enter the bore easily. I had a great deal of difficulty getting the rod into the bore and after several tries I stopped using the guide.
