Very useful compact scope ...

Very useful compact scope for bench shooting with a perfect blend of features. Includes a larger hard case, compact soft case and a sleeve for hand holding. The tripod is light and made of metal, not plastic. When set on the bench, could easily see 22LR holes at 100 yards for sighting in. The drawbacks are limited brightness due to the size of the objective (simple physics, not the scope; the image is crisp) and a very short eye relief, to the point that one has to take shooting glasses off and press the eye against the eyepiece in order to see at the maximum magnification. Having to touch the eyepiece in turn will slightly shake the scope even on tripod, making the whole setup somewhat delicate. If this was an expensive scope I would have taken at least a point off for the eye relief, but for the price, it is expected. The scope is made in China, which makes sense for the entry level scope to keep it inexpensive. I am not a hunter, but my guess is that this scope would be of limited use in the field at higher magnification due to the short eye relief (shaking), basic tripod (effective when locked, otherwise hard to track moving objects) and small objective (limited detail in the shade). However, for the static bench shooting you cannot go wrong.

Was looking for a ...

Was looking for a compact, light weight spotting scope for range and field- 100 to 250 yard range. Cost was also a consideration. This scope fits the bill for the price. Qptics are high quality, sharp image, fit/ finish good, tripod is solid, top section doubles as a window clamp. Cases (soft and hard) and hand grip are a plus. Would have gone 5 stars but the eye piece focus was ultra tight to start, is better now.
