My Browning A bolt .325WSM loves them. I was in WY. 2 yrs. ago and shot a pronghorn @ 347 yrds one shot never moved, It was - 3 degrees F small hole going in about 1 1/2 inch coming out

Can hold 2" groups at 200 ...

Can hold 2" groups at 200 yards with a typical Yugo 24/47. Used this bullet last month on a cow bison (about 800 lbs). She settled to the ground on third shot to lungs and shoulder for final neck shot. Not exactly 45-70 performance on her, but the shots were about 150 to 180 yards. One bullet penetrated massive shoulder and stopped at inside of opposite shoulder, other bullets left two holes. Retained bullet was mushroom shaped in one piece with jacket retained, double original caliber, and 90 percent measured retained weight. Agreement with guide was that if she was still standing, I was still shooting. I would do it again--meat and hide damage was not bad and she was down and out in a couple of minutes.

Very accurate and violent ...

Very accurate and violent expansion at 8mm Mauser velocity. I have pushed these to 2654fps using varget and they retain about 65% of their weight. They might be too fragile for 8mm mag but I couldn't ask for better performance in the 8mm Mauser. These were much more accurate than the 150 gr version.

I loaded these up to muzzle velocity of 3100 fps in a 28 inch long barrel custom long distance hunting rifle. The accuracy was very good. I shot a Black tail fork horned buck at 180 yards while it was quartering hard away (Big bodied for it's horns. The bullet velocity at that point should have been about 2700 fps. Bullet entered behind the ribcage on the right side without hitting any bones. The bullet disintegrated. Destroyed the liver and a lead fragment went through the heart. Buck did not go 20 yards. I found the jacket with no lead in it on the off side rib cage. No exit wound was present. Not quite as sturdy as I would like for Bear and Elk where thick hide and big bones could be encountered.

I have always found Hornady products to be top quality.The 195 grain spire point gave good results in my M-48 mauser. I am very pleased with the performance of the bullet.

Excellent bullet for ...

Excellent bullet for medium heavy game in the 8MM Mauser and 8MM Remington Magnum. According to Hornady it is probably too heavily constructed for most whitetail deer, at least in the 8MM Mauser, but is excellent for black bear, hogs, elk, caribou, etc. I am currently loading it for an 8MM Mauser to hunt hogs. My favorite load so far is 50 grains of R-15 in Remington brass with WLR primers. This is a near-max load in my rifle. 51 grains being max with Winchester large rifle primers and 52 grains with Remington primers. This combination gives consistent five shot groups averaging 3/4" to 1". Velocity averages 2653 fps for 10 shots with a slight roll crimp. I am shooting this out of an Remington Classic with a 24" barrel. While I have not personally used this particular bullet on hogs, I have spoken to others who have, and all were well pleased. Note: in talking with Hornady two different load techs told me Hornady at one time, and they may still be using this powder, loaded this bullet using Hodgdon's Varget in their factory ammo. My favorite bullet for deer and light to medium game in the 8mm Mauser is the Remington 185 grain Core-Lokt. Please see my review on that bullet.

Works well in my Remington Classic in 8mm Mauser and my m48 yugo. Good accuracy in both. Its my choice for elk.
